The foldable iPhone flip could be delayed until 2027, and the crease could be the cause

Recent rumors suggest that the foldable iPhone flip could arrive in 2026 — after the foldable iPad was launched in 2025. However, a new report from TrendForce (via 9to5Mac) claims that it may not be. Market Information The company claims that the foldable iPhone will not arrive until 2027 at the earliest.

The report suggests that Apple is still in the "component specification and performance evaluation" stage. Development on the phone is still in its very early stages, which probably means that the launch in 2026 is increasingly unlikely. On top of that, Apple clearly has "strict requirements for creases and reliability."

Crease has become a sticking point for a lot of foldable phones, and in some cases it is very difficult to hide Despite the efforts of Samsung and other phone manufacturers, at least some time seems to be rare phones without visible crease.

Not to mention the fact that creases are a weakness of the screen, and the more creases, the more likely they are to be damaged over a long period of time. Then there is the problem that dust and debris get into the hinges and cause all sorts of havoc from the inside. So the foldable device is definitely not the kind of thing that mobile phone manufacturers can rush into.

Of course, the question remains whether Apple will take a little too long to develop a foldable iPhone. Apple is known for spending time on new products rather than following trends, and it makes sense to want to avoid Samsung's mistakes with the original Galaxy Fold. But it gets to a point where it might be waiting a little longer. After all, the first foldable phone arrived in 2018, and Samsung launched its first Galaxy Fold the following year. If the iPhone Flip arrives in 2027, it means Apple is almost 10 years behind that trend. The only thing Apple has yet to do is slow adoption of the foldable phone, which means it has a chance to pick up a good part of the market.

We have to wait for how this will work, but no matter what happens, it's clear that the foldable iPhone flip won't arrive soon.
