The new "House of the Dragon" Season 2 clip reveals the Demon's reaction to the death of the big finale

The season 1 finale of "House of the Dragon" came to a shocking end, even by Westeros standards. (Warning: Spoilers ahead! Its explosive final episode saw the death of a young Lucerys "Luke" Velaryon (Elliot Grihault), who was killed by his uncle Aemond Targaryen (Ewan Mitchell) during a dramatic dragon chase.

The tragedy only fueled an already strained relationship between Luke's mother, Rainila Targaryen (Emma Darcy), and her half・brother, Aegon 2 (Tom Glyn・Carney), her heir to the throne. As viewers saw in the final moments of Season 2, Luke's death takes its sibling rivalry and turns it into an all-out civil war.

After an official trailer gave fans a sneak peek at how "Dragon's Dance" Inheritance War will play in "Dragon's House" Season 2— the premiere episode will hit HBO and Max on Sunday,June16 9pm ET—viewers watched one scene from the upcoming premiere early. Also, this finds Rhaenyra's husband Damon (Matt Smith) discussing the death of his cousin Rhaenys Targaryen and his son-in-law (Eve Best).

In a new clip that aired during a recent interview with actor Matt Smith on cbs morning, Damon shows that he is concerned that Rhaenyra has taken off alone on her dragon Syrax after receiving words of Luke's murder.

"What if Aemond happened to her?""The Prince is worried. "Then I pity Aemond," Rhaenys replies, but Rhaenyra admits that it was wise to "take back" herself and not succumb to the urge for revenge against her half-brother, and given how absolutely furious Rhaenyra was at the end of Season 1 of the "Game of Thrones" prequel, she can choose against immediate retribution. And it is quite a feat.

And while Rhaenyra has been rightfully fired in Season 2 (reportedly far more than the history book "Fire & Bone" on which "HOTD" is based), this time you'll see a "much weaker" version of her husband, Smith told CBS Morning.

"I think [the daemon] has fallen into anonymity in a way. He becomes a kind of soft, lazy, thick and slow," the actor revealed. "He is really haunted by the weight of his demons, ghosts, specters, all the bad deeds he has done...I think he will be more exposed to speak.

And as to why new viewers need to tune in to Season 2 of the show, Smith joked that "House of the Dragon" is the perfect show," he added: "It's really like a great, big, political kind of odyssey, and it's violent, sexy and weird." And there are some really great characters and we have some great new actors that are coming this year. Actor Tom Glyn-Carney was also named "just fantastic" in Season 2 of "HOTD."

Whether rooting for Rhaenyra and Team Black or Aegon II and Team Green, Tom's Guide will continue to post on everything related to the second season of "House of The Dragon.""In the meantime, we can catch up with everyone at House Targaryen by re-watching the first season of the show with a Max subscription.
