If you're one of the people who pony up for AI Pin Pro, you'll want to stop using the charging case that comes with smart wearable. Humane, the company behind the product, today (6/5) sent an email to the owner of the AI Pin warning that the use of its case should be stopped "immediately" to charge the device.

The Verge received a copy of that email warning that the battery cells in the AI Pin Pro charging case "could pose a fire safety risk." We have a lot to offer."

In the email, Humane states that the battery cell came from a third-party vendor that Humane has "disqualified."The company also stressed that the AI pins themselves, battery boosters, and charging pads are not at risk.The vendor in question only supplied the parts to the charging case. 

To compensate for the inconvenience, the company offers a 2-month free subscription service required for most of the Pin features. It did not say whether the humane company would provide a replacement charging case. 

At the time of this article's publication, the email posted to The Verge is the only place Humane appears to acknowledge the issue. Neither the humane website nor its X account has posted updates. Even the humane Discord server does not officially mention this issue. That said, many AI Pin owners are discussing the email and wondering if they should send the case back.

It's a continuation of Humane's no good, very bad year. AI Pins launched into a roundly negative review in early May. Very few publications had anything positive to say about the device.

Last month, it turned out that The Humane was looking for a buyer, seeking a valuation of775,000 toと10 billion. The managing editor of Computing Jason England writes that he believes companies like Humane and Rabbit are being created to be acquired."When I look at these companies, I have to feel underwhelmed. That is, the device is a proof of concept that people can buy, a physical manifestation of the pitch deck for acquisitions by the likes of Apple and Google.

Just a few weeks later, Humane has not yet been snapped up by big companies. The release of GPT-4o from OpenAI probably killed both Humane and Rabbit, so it's a shame.
