Westeros fans recently got some information about the episode title and runtime of the "House of The Dragon" Season 2 premiere episode — which hit HBO and Max on Sunday 6/16 at 9 p.m., so mark it on the calendar — and now that the 2nd episode of the season is "Game of Thrones." I learned to break the record for the "Thrones" prequel series.

Yes, even though "House of the Dragon" Season 2 has fewer episodes than its 10-episode predecessor, the second episode stretched to 5 minutes longer than last season's longest edition and 67 minutes longer than the premiere of the hour and quarter. So while the number of episodes is lower than in the first season, it may appease fans by knowing that the previous episodes are longer than 1 hour.

And the new season will require that extra screen time, what with all of the new characters, new dragons and big battle scenes to come. "House of the Dragon" Season 2 will pick up shortly after the event of its shocking Season One finale, during which Rhaenyra Targaryen's half-brother Aemond (Ewan Mitchell) whose tragedy comes after the death of Larneira (Emma Darcy) and Team Black and her half-brother Aegon II (Tom Glynn Carter). It spurred a fierce succession war within the Targaryen family between Team Green and Team Green. Given that the premiere episode is titled "Son for Son," it seems that Rainila and her supporters are seeking revenge against Aegon and Co. In an upcoming episode.

We don't yet know the episode title or the full premise of the Season 2nd episode, but it aired on 6/23 (Sunday) and directed by Claire Kilner is also the author of the book Fire & Blood, which is based on House of The Dragon.R.Martin calls the ep's initial cut "powerful, emotional, gut-wrenching" in a blog post on his website in 2023/12. 

The writer was given a sneak peek in the first two editions of "House of the Dragon" season 2 and said: "Of course, when I talk about something based on my work, I hardly (and they are not over yet)." Dark, please mind. Very dark. They may make you cry. (I didn't make myself cry, but one of my friends cried).
