May 6 is off to a hot start with a sizzling mix of new shows and movies to watch this weekend on Netflix, Paramount Plus and other top streaming services.

The weekend lineup will be led by Hitman, starring summer star Glenn Powell and directed by Richard Linklater. Netflix's best original films by age are a fizzy blend of romance, comedy, noir and thriller that you can't miss. 

On the TV side, book another trip to a distant galaxy in "Star Wars: The Acolyte" or head to paradise to watch the singles mingle in "Perfect Match" Season 2. In addition, adjust to the last season of "Sweet Tooth" and "Power Book II: Ghost"."Here's our guide to what to see this weekend.

"Acolyte" goes to a place that "Star Wars" has never been before - a distant past. After the disappointing efforts of "Ahsoka", "Obi・Wan Kenobi" and "The Book of Boba Fett", it is a welcome change. Creator Leslye Headland has set her show in the High Republic era, about a century before the "Phantom Menace".Respected Jedi Master Sol (Lee Jung Jae) reveals an ominous force in the work of the Galaxy and a disturbing crime that brings him into contact with his former Padawan (Amandla Stenberg)

The fantasy drama is directed by Gus (Christian Convary). He will announce the final season, which will end the journey of the boy and the Deer Hybrid, and his companions. Gus, Jeppard (Nonso Anozy), Becky (Stefania Lavey Owen) and Wendy (Naledi Murray) head to Alaska in search of Gus's mother, Birdie (Amy Cymetz), who is working to uncover the mysterious origin of the deadly disease. But a new threat emerges in the form of Helen Chang (Rosalind Chao), her daughter Rosie (Kelly Marie Tran), and a ferocious wolf boy who has a nefarious plan for the Gas that could determine the fate of humanity and the hybrid.

The "Power" spinoff follows the ghost's son, Tariq (Michael Rainey Jr.), who faces dangerous challenges from every angle.Close the story book). He must decide, for better or worse, whether to accept the name of St. Patrick and the legacy of his father. Not only is the Tejada family, former Effie (Alix Lapri) and drug lord Noma (Caroline Chikezie) gunning for him, but so is the New York Police Department. Tariq may have no choice but to become an "apex predator" to survive like a ghost. Like a father, like a son.

Netflix's most famous singles are mixed up (for now) in the hope of finding their man. Host Nick Lacey oversees the minutes as cast members of Netflix reality shows such as "Love Is Blind," "Too Hot to Handle," and "The Ultimatum" gather in tropical locations to form couples, date, make, break up, and generally create romantic chaos.

The revival of criminal proceedings has been a success for Paramount Plus. Not only is it back for the new season, but another installment has already been ordered. The Behavior Analysis Unit (BAU), an elite team of FBI profilers, is investigating a mysterious conspiracy known as the Gold Star — dealing with the unexpected complication of serial killer Elias Voight (Zach Guilford) being transferred to federal custody in his own backyard. The team still faces their biggest threat — and not all come through the other side.

Start Glen Powell's summer. The actor has already demonstrated he can ooze charisma with "Top Gun: Maverick" and "Anyone But You," but just in case, You" Beyond the screen, Powell co-wrote the screenplay with Linklater based on a Texas monthly article. Next month, he will make headlines for the disaster film "Twisters," but before that, he plays a university professor who is moonlighting as a fake hitman for the New Orleans Police Department. Gary Johnson has a gift for adopting different personalities, complete with accents, costumes and wigs. But when he falls for a potential criminal named Madison (Adria Arjona), the line between the real and the act becomes very blurred.

Dakota Johnson had to bear it grinning through a press tour for the odious "Madame Web" but she was able to hold her head high again in this comedy drama from directors Tig Notaro and Stephanie Allynne, the first time in her own life. Written by Lauren Pomerantz based on the story. Lucy is a 32-year-old woman who lives in Los Angeles and is late aware that she is a lesbian. His best friend Jane (Mizuno Sonya) is cooperative, but has moved to London. Lucy needs to learn to navigate these big changes and accept her new normal.

The Japanese pick for best international film at the 2024 Academy Awards, "Perfect Days" is a life drama that intrigued me from the first trailer. It introduces the beauty of Tokyo and the simple joys of life through the daily life of Hirayama (Yakusho Koji), who cleans toilets in Tokyo. He is a creature of habit and performs the same actions - working, watering his plants, shooting trees, reading himself to sleep — during the day and during the day. 

Through a series of unexpected encounters, Hirayama's past is revealed, and the reasons behind his humble life are also revealed. "Perfect Days" has gained critical support since its debut at the Cannes Film Festival in 2023-5 and now has a 96% critical score on Rotten Tomatoes. Critics especially praised Yakusho Koji's poignant performance and won the Best Actor Award at Cannes.

The latest horror franchise to get a reboot treatment, "Stranger: Chapter 1," revisits the Home Invasion-Turn-Thrasher formula that made the 2008 original a success. The first installment of the planned trilogy, the film ignores the original (and the 2018 sequel) in favor of a cast of new characters led by Madelaine Petsch from "Riverdale" and Froy Gutierrez, a graduate of "Teen Wolf". 

"Strangers: Chapter 1" centers on a young couple (Petch and Gutierrez) whose road trips turn into nightmares. They have no apparent motive to terrorize the couple, and their bloodthirsty 3 coverings after a car trouble has left them stranded in the shed they left behind, you'll find a lot here if you're looking for a cheap horror thrill, just for some very wooden acting from the lead. 16]
