Summer is all but here, and Netflix, Prime Video, and the best streaming services are already packed with blockbusters. But with too much available, figuring out what to look at can be a chore. 

That's why we've rounded up the best movies that have just landed on streaming. Leading this week's pack is a refreshing rom・com starring Glenn Powell as a moonlight professor as a fake assassin in Netflix's "Hitman.""On Hulu, there's the award-winning slice of life drama "Perfect Days" and the musical film "treatment" from "Mean Girls" is featured in Prime Video. Or, for something a little more hair-raising, the Thrasher reboot "Stranger: Chapter 1" debuted on the video-on-demand platform this week.

"Perfect Days" with Japan winning the Best International Film Award at the 2024 Academy Awards was my intriguing slice of life from the first trailer. It's a life drama. It introduces the beauty of Tokyo and the simple joys of life through the daily life of Hirayama (Yakusho Koji), who cleans toilets in Tokyo. He is a creature of habit and performs the same actions - working, watering his plants, shooting trees, reading himself to sleep — during the day and during the day. 

Through a series of unexpected encounters, Hirayama's past is revealed, and the reasons behind his humble life are also revealed. "Perfect Days" has gained critical support since its debut at the Cannes Film Festival in 2023-5 and now has a 96% critical score on Rotten Tomatoes. Critics especially praised Yakusho Koji's poignant performance and won the Best Actor Award at Cannes.

The latest horror franchise to get a reboot treatment, "Stranger: Chapter 1," revisits the Home Invasion-turn-Thrasher formula that made the 2008 original a success. The first installment of the planned trilogy, the film ignores the original (and the 2018 sequel) in favor of a cast of new characters led by Madelaine Petsch from "Riverdale" and Froy Gutierrez, a graduate of "Teen Wolf". 

"Stranger: Chapter 1" centers on a young couple (Petsch and Gutierrez) whose expedition turns into a nightmare. They have no apparent motive to terrorize the couple, and their bloodthirsty 3 coverings after a car trouble has left them stranded in the shed they left behind, you'll find a lot here if you're looking for a cheap horror thrill, just for some very wooden acting from the lead. 21]

That's the story you've heard before, just never quite like this. "Mean Girls" is an adaptation of the 2017 musical of the same name, which in itself was based on the 2004 teen comedy, which to this day remains infinitely citable. 

Angourie Rice stars as Cady Heron, a recent transfer student trying to navigate the jungles of an American high school, while Reneé Rapp takes on the role of Regina George, the head of a faction of mean-spirited popular girls known as "The Plastics."Caddy sneaks into the group to take Regina to the peg, followed by Shenanigan, and the rest of the story unfolds in the same way it did in the beloved teen comedy it's based on — with the exception of musical numbers and pizza that slap every toe in the Broadway adaptation.

Who doesn't love a little escapsim on the life of the super rich sometimes. "Crazy Rich Asians" is an adaptation of Kevin Kwan's novel of the same name, which sees the star of Constance Wu as rachel Chu, a professor at nyu. 

She discovers this only after the couple are on their way to Singapore for Nick's friend's wedding. What was meant to be an easy trip turns into a whole situation where everyone, including Nick's mother, Eleanor (Michelle Yeo), is judging Rachel. Hilarious and gorgeous, "Crazy Rich Asians" is one of the easiest films to watch on this list.1 The support cast is also perfect, especially with Wakwafina as Rachel's high Society instructor Paiklin and Nicosantos as family Oliver's self-proclaimed rainbow sheep.

After the "Madame Web" trainwreck, Dakota Johnson wrote, "Am I OK.- A self-discovery comedy drama that made waves after its debut at the Sundance Film Festival. She stars as Lucy, a 32-year-old woman living in Los Angeles who realizes she's a lesbian after a lifetime of crappy relationships with men. 

Her best friend Jane (Mizuno Sono Ya) is cooperative, but she is also preparing to move on the way around the world. So Lucy must learn to stand on her own and navigate the trials and tribulations that come out later in life without the support system she has come to rely on. Directed by comedians Tig Notaro and Stephanie Allynne "Am I OK.Written by Lauren Pomerantz and based on her own life story, its authenticity and fragility shine throughout.

"Under Paris" is set in the French capital Paris, which is preparing to host the World Triathlon Championship for the first time (probably in 2024).
