How to watch the films of the "Hunger Games" in order

If you know how to watch "hunger games" movies in order on some of the best streaming services, the odds will be in your favor. The franchise consists of 5 movies and often moves between streaming platforms.

Based on Suzanne Collins' bestselling novel, The Hunger Games is set in the dystopian world of Panem, where every year 24 tributes (men and women from each of the 12 districts) are chosen to compete in the eponymous game.

The hero of the "Hunger Games" franchise is Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence), who was forced to volunteer for the 74th Hunger Games after her sister was chosen. She joins the game with the baker's son Peter Melak (Josh Hutcherson), who fights to survive under the watchful eye of President Snow (Donald Sutherland), the ruler of the Capitol.

Along with following Katniss's journey to survive the game and lead a rebellion against the brutal Capitol, there's also a prequel entry, "Ballad of Birds and Snakes," which explores President Snow's backstory and explains how he becomes the ruthless dictator who torments Katniss.

The "Hunger Games" movie is the rarest blockbuster that has earned significant box office and strong critical acclaim. But with 5 movies to watch, it can be confusing to know where to start, so you can skip "The Hunger Games" at release date-ordered or chronological events

as of 2024-5, you can watch 4 mainline "Hunger Games" movies on Netflix. However, if you want to binge on these excellent movies, you need to do it quickly, as 4 flicks have been confirmed to leave the world's most popular streaming service at the end of the month (5/31).  On the other hand, if you want to delve deeper into the world of Panem, "The Hunger Games: Ballads of Songbirds & Snakes" is currently streaming on Starz or PVOD platforms such as Amazon, YouTube and Apple.

It's very easy to watch the Hunger Games movies in release order. The first 4 films adapt the first trilogy of the book, and then the first part - the latest novel of the series.

Here, all "Hunger Games" movies are listed in their theatrical release order:

Piecing together the "Hunger Games" timeline is much easier than in some of its contemporaries, and you just have to swap around a single movie,"Hunger Games: Songbird Ballad & Snake". Otherwise, you can see as usual.

The first four films follow Katniss's story in a strictly linear way, covering her participation in the 74th Hunger Games and beyond, and then the prequel fills some of the blanks and is set more than 50 years ago for the rest of the sci-fi action series films.

But before diving into chronological order, I should warn you that we recommend watching "hunger games" movies in timeline order only if you have already seen the movie at least once before, or if you are very familiar with the source material.

At the time of writing, there are no details about future "hunger games" movies. In an interview with Variety in 2023, franchise producer Nina Jacobson and director Francis Lawrence (who first directed all the "hunger Games" movies) said that unless the author Suzanne Collins has fresh ideas that she feels are worth exploring, she will not be able to do so. We have confirmed that there are no more "hunger Games" movie plans.  Basically, it seems you can't get any more "Hunger Games" movies unless you get a new "Hunger Games" book first. On that front, Collins has not confirmed that she is working on a future novel set within the Panem. However, fans are used to waiting for years between installments, as there was a long gap between "Mockingjay" (released in 2010) and "The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes" (released in 2020) for 10 years.

Collins needs to confirm another novel, the creative team of the franchise seems likely to reunite for another adaptation, but as things stand, don't expect to revisit the world of "hunger games" anytime soon on the big screen.

Guess we just have to solve binge-watching five "hunger games" movies available for the tenth time.
