Critérium du Dauphiné will return in 2024 to the 76th edition for a race of 1,200 km in and around the French Alps. Created in 1947 to boost the publication of the newspaper "Le Dauphiné Libéré", it has become the number one testing ground for riders to warm up for the Tour de France. Over the years, 11 riders have won both and done a double, with Chris Froome winning three times.

Starting at Saint-Pourçain-sur-Sioule, the race will begin with a 175-kilometer loop, but climbing the 2000 meters is likely to be a sprint stage, and perhaps one of the week 1

Over the next three days, the stage profile goes ballistic with three vicious summit ends in a row. The Stage 6 race will first cross the Col du Granier and end at the 11.1 km Collet D'Allevard. The next day, the Queen Stage sees the race Cross for First Category climb and ends with the HC ascent to Samoens. The race will then end with a gruelling 9.4-kilometre climb to the Plateau des Glières on Sunday.

These 3 days are very difficult and not only provide a worthy winner, but also a good indicator to show who will compete for the final podium on the 7th month tour.
