Watch out for the steam deck. You have a new competitor coming for your crown as the potential best portable gaming PC on the market. After various recent leaks and rumors, Asus has finally officially announced the ROG Ally X. 

ROG Ally X is now available for purchase in the US, bringing fans of the best PC games back to back799. If you're reading this in the UK, Asus handheld won't be on our frigid shores until 6/22, so you'll have to be a bit more patient, as it will launch on launch799

Asus has decided to use the same AMD Ryzen Z1Extreme processor as its predecessor, but Windows 11 is not. The powered ROG Ally X boasts a lot more significant improvements than last year's model

The selling point of the new handheld headline? Full HD screen with brightness refresh rate of 500hz, which can reach 120nit; The new 80wh battery provides a battery boost of 40% more than the 200wh battery installed on Ally.It concludes with an exciting package with dual USB-C ports, an updated version of the Armory Crate (called SE1.5) that allows you to customize your game library, a front-facing Dolby Atmos speaker, a more accurate D-Pad and a more durable joystick. 

On the storage front, you get 1TB of M2. Out of the box 2280SSD, Asus easily increases this capacity with a larger SSD through a process that does not sound much more complicated than replacing Sony's PS5Slim drive 24GB onboard LPDDR5X700 memory also helps to improve the frame rate of your favorite games.

The Asus ROG Ally X is 11.5% heavier than the vanilla Ally, but it looks like a significant improvement in the heat distribution of the new backpack-friendly console. Tighten yourself up (apologize in advance) for a lot of buzzwords that are a bit cumbersome, but here we go...Ally X Sport "Anti-gravity heat Pipe", "ROG dust Filter" and "Zero gravity thermal Solution" also represent last year's unit upgrade. If you don't speak fluent Asus, in real-world terms, this means Ally X runs cooler and more efficiently than its predecessor.

As a stubborn deck fan, there is an opinion that I am not yet in the windows handheld market that can still be classified as close in nature. But I can't deny the Asus ROG Ally X specs...At least a little has made me reconsider my valve-loving opinion. Now I want to get a gaming device that ticks almost every box on paper.
