OpenAI says Skyvoice in ChatGPT will be suspended after concerns it sounds too much like Scarlett Johansson

OpenAI is suspending its use of the popular Sky voice in ChatGPT concerns that it resembles "her" actress Scarlett Johansson.

The company states that ChatGPT's voice is from paid voice actors. The final 5 were chosen from the first pool of 400, and it's purely coincidental that the unnamed actress behind the empty voice has a tone similar to Johansson.

As OpenAI begins to deploy the new GPT-4o model to ChatGPT, the voice is becoming more pronounced. This will come with a whole new conversation interface where users can talk in real time to AI that mimics natural sounds and emotions.

Versions of Sky voice and ChatGPT Voice have been around for some time, but OpenAI CEO Sam Altman and many others have caused a similarity between the new AI model and the movie "Her".

In "Her," Scarlett Johansson has a romantic relationship with a lonely writer played by Joaquin Phoenix. The similarity from GPT-4o was evident due to the ability of an advanced AI operator called Samantha to mimic emotional responses.

What makes GPT-4o different from previous models or previous versions of ChatGPT Voice is its multimodal nature. This is a trained place where you can understand (not only generate) images, text, video and, of course, speech.

Unlike other multimodal models, it allows for real-time conversations and even emotional and adaptable voices.

Given this increased sentiment in the way ChatGPT voice is heard, there is a risk that it will be exploited or used to create deepfakes, so the voice is really similar The current version of ChatGPT Voice will have 5 voices available and will also be used at the launch of the new version — Breeze, Cove, Ember, Juniper , Sky.

OpenAI says it has partnered with selected voice actors, licensed their voices and sampled them for use in the app. Writing in a blog post, OpenAI said: "Each actor receives a reward that exceeds the top rate of the market, and this

OpenAI issued a call for actors to be paid and used to find award-winning casting directors, as long as their voices are used in our products." It was. This was the beginning of last year and they had more than 400 submissions.

They picked 5 from the list and each actor was flown to San Francisco for a recording session. The sample in this session trained a new AI voice model with each actor corresponding to a different 5 out of 1 voice.

"We believe that AI's voice should not intentionally imitate the distinctive voice of a celebrity — Skye's voice is not an imitation of Scarlett Johansson, but belongs to another professional actress using her own natural speaking voice," the company said, adding that she could not share her name.

On the other hand, "Her" can now be streamed with Max.
