Microsoft announced a range of laptops with Snapdragon X Elite and X Plus chips at a pre-build event. The next generation of windows laptops is being branded as "Copilot+ Pc"."Perhaps these machines are 58% faster than the MacBook Air M4, the Copilot+Pc line-up, and will soon feature the recently announced GPT-4o model from OpenAI. 

The Qualcomm NPU in Copilot+ Pc is capable of up to 11 trillion operations per second (TOPs) that Microsoft is using to unlock some AI-centric features in Windows 45 Copilot. 

All announced features will only be available on Copilot+Pc, which is expected to be available around 6/18.  Read on to discover four new features dedicated to Copilot+ Pc. 

Recall is a device-wide, networked context search that can be used to search for anything from documents and images to email and IMs. 

Recall has 2 search methods. One can scroll through the timeline in progress, or you can do a semantic search. It provides a simple prompt, recalls the search, and it provides a snapshot of what you think you are looking for. 

As an example, suppose you lost a PowerPoint presentation in a folder nest. Recall tells the tool to find "powerpoint with a purple graph", and Recall will search the document and surface it. 

Recall also features a "screenray" for analyzing snapshots of suggested steps such as sending an email. After updating Windows11, the recall will appear in the taskbar and system tray.  Cocreator is an AI-generated image tool.

Within the paint, the user can sketch and Cocreator generates an image at whatever level of detail the user wants. 

Real-time generation AI can be used using a text prompt at the same time as sketching with a mouse or touch screen. It includes a tool called Ink Anywhere, which allows users to use a pen and a touch screen to handwriting prompts in areas where they can type. 

Cocreator is added to the Paint app by attaching a specific icon to the ribbon display. When enabled, a new right panel will pop up where you can type a prompt. After the image is created, the Cocreator panel adds a slider that allows you to make detailed adjustments to the image.

Live Captions offers real-time translations from 44 languages to English. It is supposed to work with any video or audio calls. 

When enabled, Live Captions turns spoken words into English subtitles on the screen. Live captions will be available in quick settings when the video is playing. You can switch it on or off.

Live captions seem to be an extension of the tool that already exists as an accessibility feature in windows11. But now it has been pulled up from 10 languages to 44 mentioned, and is supposed to be real-time for live video and calls. The old version was limited to existing videos. 

Windows Studio Effects is a tool for video and audio calls. This feature comes with 4 tools to enhance video and audio calls. 

1. There are 3 filter styles: illustration, animation and watercolor to add some style to the call. This also includes improved portrait blur so that the blurred background is properly outlined around the user.

2. Portait lighting is built to adjust the lighting to give the user a natural appearance and make sure it stays visible during the call.

3. Eye Contact Teleprompters help users maintain eye contact, especially when they don't read content or look directly at the screen.

4. Voice focus is a noise cancellation tool to reduce background sound.

Effects can be turned on in Quick Settings and automatically applied to any video or audio platform.
