Moving On Snapdragon - Intel's Moon Lake Set to Power more than 80 new AI laptops this Year

Skynet will run the world within the next decade at this speed as AI continues To be a bigger player Than ever In The computing Space Much is being done at this week's Microsoft Build event, one of the key announcements centered on the future of Intel's Lunar Lake CPU 1.

First, Inel announced that the new silicon will be with us by the third quarter of this year (thanks, The Verge). In addition, the iconic chipmaker plans to integrate Lunar Lake into 80 laptop designs spanning 20 laptop manufacturers, powering the 40 million AI PC Cpus Intel wants to release before the year comes out.

These Lunar Lake laptop processors are specially made to get the most out of the new Copilot+ Pc. The Ai-focused portable Pc has cool new features such as Recall (a networked context search that can be used to find everything from images, emails to documents) and Cocreator, an AI-generated image tool.

According to Intel, Lunar Lake boasts 3x AI performance compared to the company's existing Meteor Lake chip family, which is a gen-on-gen jump. The company also claims that the new Lunar Lake silicon is 1.4 times faster when it comes to stable diffusion, placed next to Qualcomm's Snapdragon X Elite.

Lunar Lake appears to be set to play a major role in the success of Copilot+Pc. By contrast, Lunar Lake has much more to do under the hood, making it a much more suitable chip for AI-focused laptops. Apart from the CPU itself, the Lunar Lake chip features an integrated Xe2GPU and a deep Learning NPU (neural processing unit) that can squeeze 40TOP (ter operations per second) from the AI laptop it houses itself. By contrast, the Meteor Lake chipset has just 10 tops on the Npu.

Intel is clearly becoming a major player in the AI laptop space, and I look forward to the first thing for one to buy I go rogue and chase me with all the efficiency of a particular Austrian Cyborg.
