Metaquest 3 is a fun headset, but the rumors of budget-friendly Metaquest 3Lite have been spotted by our sister site, Tech Radar, and the latest Metaquest 3Lite rumors suggest the brain of Metaquest. You will get 3 frankensteined2 on the body of Metaquest.  

This claim comes from X user Lunayian, who provides another name for a potential headset, Metaquest 3s. This is reminiscent of how mobile phone manufacturers sometimes add an A or SE to the end of the device, a budget-friendly version of the flagship phone.

As a Lite version of Quest3, Quest3s seems to share quite a bit with its predecessors. The 3s reportedly comes with the Qualcomm Snapdragon XR2Gen2 chipset, the same as the Quest3. It may also offer the same Touch Plus controller and 2 4MP RGB pass-through cameras.

The rumored display sounds like a clear downgrade from Quest 3. These 3 have a resolution of 2,054x2, 2208, which is 25 pixels/degree in VR. The 3s seems to have the same resolution as Quest2 at 1,832x1,920, and slightly less PPD at 20. It reportedly has a refresh rate of 120Hz.

From the infographic, Metaquest 3s looks like the design is approaching Quest 2. If this all turns out to be accurate, it feels like Meta is pushing the Quest 3 part into Quest 2.

What we haven't seen leaking yet is the price. Based on the leak, the 3s seems to be cheaper than Quest3's開始499 starting price. Quest 2 was launched on launched299.
