Michael Crichton's 1990 novel "Jurassic Park" emphasizes the concept of chaos theory, and the film franchise adapted from Crichton's novel is a bit chaotic. It began with a direct adaptation of the original novel before spinning off into its own world through 2 sequels and a half-reboot trilogy. The new film, directed by Gareth Edwards ("Godzilla") and starring Scarlett Johansson, will take the franchise in yet another direction in 2025/7.

All films revolve around the revival of dinosaurs through genetic engineering, for the purpose of populating attractions. Each time, that misplaced project quickly goes awry, but it does not stop the character from trying again in the next movie.

Movies in "Jurassic Park" and "Jurassic World" have all been released by Universal Pictures, the corporate sibling of the streaming service Peacock, but streaming availability is spinning pretty regularly. Here you can stream all the movies currently in the "Jurassic Park" franchise.

Legendary director Steven Spielberg directed both the first two "Jurassic Park" films based on Crichton's novels, but the sequel takes little from Crichton's second book. 

Sam Neill, Laura Dern and Jeff Goldblum play scientists hired to assess dinosaur sanctuaries, but only under attack by vicious carnivores. Spielberg stepped aside for the third "Jurassic Park" movie, and the three major stars will appear together only in the first movie.

The "Jurassic Park" franchise was dormant for 14 years before being relaunched with "Jurassic World," a fully functioning and fully public dinosaur theme park featuring disasters. The film launched a new trilogy starring Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard, expanding the story to encompass dinosaur mayhem around the world. 

Spielberg returned as Executive producer, while Colin Trevorrow directed the first and third films and co-wrote all three. Original stars Sam Neill, Laura Dern and Jeff Goldblum will also reprise their roles, appearing as supporting characters in the second half of the trilogy.
