7 Best Movies about AI To Watch on Netflix, Prime Video, Max and more

We all know that artificial intelligence is growing at a considerable pace right now. If science fiction movies are to be believed, one day these machines may be more dominant than humans. In fact, we're still in the early stages, but that doesn't mean screenwriters can't enjoy it. Whether it's a deadly machine that hijacked the world or a conscious robot with emotions, there are a lot of movies that fascinate and disturb you.

A particular classic is the "matrix", which introduces the dangers of artificially intelligent perceptual programs and their superiority over humans. "M3gan" is a recent sci-fi film that combines AI with fear, essentially producing an evil doll that can walk, talk, and kill.

If you're interested in seeing something about AI, we've put together the top movies on the best streaming platforms. And don't worry, AI won't take over the real world anytime soon.

"Matrix" is one of the best sci-fi films ever made, and one of the films that define the true genre it still holds in a few years. This movie ends up getting a random call from a beautiful stranger named Neo (Keanu Reeves), Trinity (Carrie Ann Moss), a computer hack that she tells him, Morpheus (Lawrence Fishburne), that his repeated online encounters with the word "matrix" are not the same. But when he meets Morpheus, Neo discovers that the life he knows may not be real at all. And yes, you believe that the best evil cyber intelligence is ruling the world.  It is important to note that "The Matrix" has 3 more films after the first one, which can be confusing. This cyberpunk media franchise is so vast that trying to understand the plot seems to be stuck in a simulated reality, but if you can get over the initial mess, the film is definitely worth watching.

Looking for something a little more tense. Netflix recently added a disturbing AI movie called "Upgrade." The film centers on a paralyzed man named Gray (Logan Marshall Green) who gets this physical condition from a brutal robbery. If that wasn't enough, the robber also murdered his wife, so Gray quickly fell into depression when he recovered from the incident.

However, a new miracle implant is offered to him by a billionaire investor, and Gray quickly accepts. Yes, you guessed it, the implant is AI. What could go wrong? Now, with Gray's newly discovered superhuman strength and agility, he can finally seek revenge on those who destroyed his life. But the implant in his head seems to have other deadly thoughts.

"The Creator" takes the genre a step further when it shows the future war between humans and artificial intelligence. Joshua (John David Washington) is a former special forces soldier whose mission is to find and kill the Creator. This is a secret form of advanced AI that has developed "incredibly dangerous" weapons that can wipe out humanity.

Of course, there needs to be a little twist. The weapon in question turned out to be actually a young girl named Alphie, a robot AI simulator that can remotely control the technology. It is a beautiful film that everyone should experience at least once, but note that it is more than 2 hours long (it is not necessary to do so).

Perhaps one of the coldest AI movies, "Ex Machina" focuses on how robots can become self-aware and deceptive. The story has the opportunity to visit Caleb Smith (Domhnall Gleason), a private property belonging to CEO Nathan Bateman (Oscar Isaac), but it's not just some random lucky journey he gets to go on. Caleb must actually take part in a Turing test involving a beautiful robot named Ava (Alicia Vikander). This is to learn more about her consciousness and abilities, but as you can imagine, she is much more intelligent than anyone she originally thought.

If you are a horror fan like me and need something more terrifying, "M3Gan" is the best option. It was created by Blumhouse, an incredibly popular production company known for successful horror films like "Paranormal activity" and "Insidious." "M3gan" focuses on Gemma (Alison Williams), a woman who has to take care of her niece Cady (Violet McGraw) after her parents are killed. Caddy suffers huge losses, which means he can't connect with his aunt.

What you don't know is that Gemma works for a toy company as a robotics engineer. Her current project is a lifelike doll named m3Gan, which is programmed to become a child's "best friend." Thinking that a new robot companion could help caddie cope, Gemma decided to take it home. But that decision leads to some irreversible consequences after the rapid development of M3Gan's consciousness.

"Blade Runner 2049" is a classic sci-fi thriller that shows how AI can integrate into our society. It follows Officer K (Ryan Gosling), who works as a blade runner at the Los Angeles Police Department. They are needed to hunt down and kill rogue replicants (bioengineered humanoids). One day, K discovers a long buried secret that encourages him to find a former blade runner named Rick Deckard (Harrison Ford). And it became clear that he has been missing for more than 30 years. Not only that, but his mission determines whether society is plunged into complete chaos.  It is important to note that "Blade Runner 2049" is a sequel to the original film, which was released in 1982. It's a good idea to take a look at it before returning to this modernized version, which offers greater visuals and stunning action sequences.

Now, moving to the territory of the strange and mysterious valley, we have "her". The film centers on a sensitive man named Theodore (Joaquin Phoenix), who is dealing with the final stages of his divorce. During his melancholy state, he discovers a new artificially intelligent operating system that is supposed to have consciousness. He decides to buy 1 in the hope that he will soon cure his loneliness, and when he sees Samantha (voiced by Scarlett Johansson) and she is a playful and friendly being, Theodore falls in love with her. But growing attached to AI is not a way to process real human emotions, so those "connections" become unhealthy.
