Sometimes, the only way to solve the problem is through time travel. There are understandable results, as many time-travel films have shown, but it's hard to resist the idea of going back to the past or surging toward the future to make change.

Whether you want a comedy take on a familiar trope or an action-packed thriller, we've selected the ones you don't want to miss. If these movies include time travel in our version of reality, you can fantasize about all the fun and disasters.

It makes perfect sense that if time travel becomes available, it will only be available to the wealthy and corrupt. That ability is technically outlawed in Rian Johnson's mind-bending "Looper," but that doesn't stop the mafia from using it. Joseph Gordon-Levitt stars as a young Joe, a looper who hides evidence that the mafia sends people into the past and takes them out. He knows that one day he will have to kill the old version of himself, played by Bruce Willis.

The Battle of Self goes to the next level in this film, especially as both young and old Joe fight with the other to survive. It's hard to know who to root for, and it's not surprising that this film has received numerous awards, including the Critics' Choice Film Award for best sci-fi/horror Film of 2013.

Oriol Paul's "Mirage" takes us on a journey in a storm 25 years away. In 1989, on the same day as the fall of the Berlin Wall, the life of a little boy, Nico, is cut short when he runs into the road and dies after being hit by a car. More than two decades later, a couple, Bella (Adriana Ugarte) and David (Alvaro Morte), have moved to Nico's house. Vera has a chance to save Nico's life, but discovers that solving problems of the past tends to confuse the future.

The film has a fascinating blend of time travel, murder mystery and parallel universes. Movies tend to be complicated, but it's hard to pickpocket every step of the way

If you can't take the premise of time travel too seriously for a long time, especially when Bella tries to undo her actions and get things right again. You will want to see "What's going on?"John Cusack and director Steve Pink (co-writer of "High Fidelity" and "Gross Pointe Blank") reunite to explore the hilarious possibilities of time travel. Adam (John Cusack), Lou (Rob Cordley) and Nick (Craig Robinson) all reconnect after Lou is hospitalized after a suicide attempt. They decided to gather together with Adam's nephew, Jacob (Clark Duke), at a ski resort they had visited in the past. When they overload the hot tub machine with energy drinks, they discover that it takes them back to 1986.

Even though the repairman (Chevy Chase) warns them not to spoil the past, they can't help themselves. Of course, cheerfulness will follow. There's literally a lot of laughter throughout, and this movie has a healthy dose of the cool vibe of the 80s. You are sure to love it.

Going on a field trip has always been the fun part of going to school. But if your teacher goes missing, it can complicate the problem. In the movie "Time Trap", several graduate students, along with a professor, go on a field trip to a hidden cave that is somehow connected to a group of missing hippies. The professor returns to town with the students and fires them. But it's only a short time before we realize the next day that the professor is not back yet. 

The students of course come back and embark on an unusual adventure in the cave, discovering that the entire space and time have been ruined. This may be a classic sci-fi B movie, but you will certainly enjoy an imaginative story.
