Prime Video's Original Romance Drama Is a Surprise Hit - Now Available for Streaming

Prime Video is climbing the pedestal of best-of-breed streaming services, with the success of several original TV shows and movies boosting the platform and reaching a wider audience worldwide. While "Fallout" made headlines in April with its phenomenal accolades and ratings, other films are now stepping into the spotlight.

Anne Hathaway is the star of this sultry rom-com. Hathaway recently spoke to The Hollywood Reporter about "The Idea of You" and how the initial screening reminded her of the praise she received for another drama film in 2001. She said: I haven't had that same feeling since The Princess Diaries."

"I've never felt the same way about a movie since I've been in it.

If all this isn't enough to convince you to stream the romance right now, Rotten Tomatoes' high ratings might. Here, we delve further into the plot of Hathaway's juicy drama and what critics thought of it.

Based on the novel of the same name by Robynne Lee, "Not So Much About You" follows 40-year-old single mother Solène (Anne Hathaway) who instantly connects with boy band vocalist Hayes Campbell (Nicholas Galitzine). After a chance meeting, the two connect and begin an unlikely romance. But life in the limelight is not always perfect, and Solène must decide if this relationship is worth the difficult obstacles that beset them.

This fresh romantic comedy gets steamy, but it's not all romance and tension. The film is supposed to explore Solène's journey as an older woman and her rise above society's expectations. Hathaway told Eyewitness News Entertainment about her personal experience: "This movie feels different. It's a film that feels everything."

"Your Idea" is about celebrating women who take control of their own happiness, regardless of their age, profession, or personal journey. In addition, there are spicy scenes that really show the chemistry between the characters.

"The Idea of You" has a fairly decent score of 88% (as of May 2) on Rotten Tomatoes. This rating comes from critics who saw an early screening of the film in theaters.

indieWire's Rafael Motamayor says: "The film adaptation of a novel that went viral in 2017 offers a fresh and poignant take on the rom-com genre." Meanwhile, in another favorable review by Ella Kemp of Empire Magazine, "Deceptively brave and sharply insightful about parasocial celebrity culture and the fallacy that women have an expiration date, 'The Idea Of You' is a film about two people you can't help but love. Along with the characters, it is good, clean fun."

The romance drama clearly won the hearts of several critics, including Kristen Lopez of Kristomania: "Hathaway and Galitizin make the characters' drama fresh and sexy.

Of course, not all reviews were sunshine and rainbows. Fred Topel of United Press International thinks: "There are better movies about dating celebrities and romance with younger partners. But 'Your Idea' is not."

"Your Idea" defies social conventions by depicting an age difference romance that has not been widely discussed in the film industry. Hathaway and Galizine have a chemistry that is evident in the trailer alone, and they do a great job of showing it on screen. This rom-com feels like a real person with whom the characters go through a roller coaster of emotions together.

If you are looking for something breathtaking and easy to watch, then "What's Your Name?" is available on Prime Video right now. This romance-drama has earned praise and high praise even in its early screenings, so it's definitely worth adding to your list.
