A bright red iPhone 15 refresh is announced - what we know

Apple has released a (PRODUCT)RED colorway for every iPhone generation since the iPhone XR was released in 2018. Prior to that, there were red versions of the iPod Touch and Mac Pro.

It was a bit surprising that the iPhone 15 was released without adding PRODUCT(RED) as one of the available color choices. Instead, it was launched in six colors: blue, pink, yellow, green, and black.

According to iMore, the (PRODUCT) RED iPhone 15 will apparently be available. The (RED) X account posted an image of what appears to be an iPhone 15 on some donuts. It is a very red device.

For those who may not know, the (PRODUCT)RED color is a partnership between companies and (RED), founded by Bono & Bobby Shriver to fight AIDS and HIV. devices like the iPhone and Beats headphones.

Apple claims to have donated over $250 million since 2006. Currently, Apple sells iPhones, Apple Watch Series 9, iPhone cases, and Beats Solo3 headphones in red. A portion of the sales of these specific products will be donated to the (RED) campaign and remitted to the Global Fund. The Global Fund focuses on the eradication of HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis, and malaria.

Apple has neither responded nor confirmed whether this is true. This (RED) post also does not hint at the appearance of cell phones. It just says, "Have an Apple with your doughnut."

Apple has given the iPhone a mid-year revamp before. Last year, the iPhone 14 came in a new yellow color scheme. The iPhone 12 and iPhone 13 also got a mid-year refresh.

With all the attention on the iPhone 16, it is interesting that there have been no leaks indicating that a red coloring will be used. Currently, the only known colors for the iPhone 16 are black, pink, blue, yellow, green, and two new colors, white and purple.

On May 7, Apple will hold an event that many expect will focus on the new iPad. Dropping the new red iPhone would be a nice little bonus to that event.
