Jenna Ortega Drops Popular Netflix Show After Character Killed - But "Wednesday" is Safe

Jenna Ortega, best known for her iconic role in "Wednesday," is leaving the popular Netflix show, a new trailer and follow-up news report has revealed. When the news hit the Internet, many thought she had unexpectedly dropped the role of Adams on Wednesday, but thankfully that is not the case. Instead, Ortega is moving on from the hit animated series "Jurassic World: Chaos Theory."

Netflix recently released a new trailer for the animated show, and fans were left wondering why Ortega's character, Brooklyn, appears to have died in the first 10 seconds, while Darius Bowman (Paul-Mikel Williams), Ben Pinkus (Sean Giambrone) and other characters confirm her death in brief conversations. Ben actually says in the trailer: "I read the Dark Jurassic material and Brooklyn's death was no accident. She was targeted."

Fans were confused and displeased because Ortega was the protagonist of the first original series, Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous. The series introduced six campers stranded on Isla Nublar and was said to take place after the first "Jurassic World" film. Now, "Chaos Theory" takes place six years after the events of the original series, but of course Ortega is not part of the core crew.

Deadline "confirmed" Brooklyn's death, but fans speculate that she will return near the end of the series to trick viewers. Ortega herself has not spoken about the revelation, so Brooklyn may reappear at some point. The absence of Ortega's name on the voice cast seems to confirm that she has been dropped for now, but we will have to wait until the animated series hits the small screen.

Not surprisingly, Ortega is a rising star in the entertainment industry. Her role on "Wednesday" practically launched her career, and she will probably spend most of her time working on it as the hit show has been renewed for season two. She will also serve as executive producer on the upcoming season, a major role in which she will oversee the entire process.

Ortega is also involved in upcoming projects such as the romantic comedy film Winter Spring Summer or Fall and the classic horror Beetlejuice. Other announced projects include the dark comedy film "The Death of a Unicorn" with Paul Rudd and a loose remake of the film "Misery" with The Weeknd as himself and Ortega as the stalker.

She seems to have a lot of work on her plate at the moment, which explains why she was unable to commit to "Chaos Theory". The animated series is scheduled to run for 10 episodes, but if her death turns out to be a dupe, Ortega could make a sneaky cameo appearance somewhere.

Even if Ortega's character Brooklyn does not appear in Chaos Theory, the focus will still be on the original "Cretaceous Camp" characters, the Nubral Six (now reduced to five, of course). They include Darius Bowman, Kenji Kong (Darren Barnett), Ben Pincus, Yazmina "Yaz" Fadullah (Kausar Mohammed), and Sammy Gutierrez (Reini Rodriguez).

"Chaos Theory" depicts the aftermath of dinosaurs roaming the United States. The core five, who nearly died while escaping Isla Nublar, have deep-seated trauma. Adjusting to the real world is harder than ever. But when a conspiracy arises, the team must work together again to stave off the threat of extinction for both dinosaurs and humanity.

The team has more incentive to unravel the conspiracy when Brooklyn's character is killed early on. Since she was such a big character in "Cretaceous Camp," the other characters will want to get some kind of revenge as they navigate their global adventure. Additionally, the group is older in this animated sequel series, so the story is likely to be darker than before.

"Chaos Theory" can be streamed on Netflix starting May 24. Our guide to the best Netflix shows to watch now is also worth checking out while you wait.
