It's the stylish new Cold War drama everyone's talking about, here's how to watch "Spy/Master" from anywhere with a VPN.

Yes, it's a Cold War miniseries. And while the United States and the Soviet Union are the main players in the unfolding events, "Spy/Master" features a country that rarely appears in mainstream Western TV dramas: Romania. Specifically, it is Romania during the presidency of Nicolae Ceauşescu in the 1970s.

While this communist leader was undeniably paranoid (and then would be executed on live television in 1989, perhaps with good reason), he was not only afraid of the West's attempts to destabilize his regime. Spy/Master comes into its own when Victor Godeanu (played by Alek Sekareanu), the man Chauşescu trusted most, is revealed to be a Soviet agent, and he is forced to take matters into his own hands. Where should he run to? And how will he get there?

The show was recently nominated for the Series Award at the first Berlin International Film Festival.

Already a big hit in the US, where it is streaming on Max, "Spy/Master" is now available for free on BBC iPlayer.

With incriminating evidence in hand, Mircea snitches Victor to Nikolai and Elena. Later, Victor gets some troubling information from his old girlfriend Ingrid. When Victor is recalled to Bucharest, Frank tries to intercept the official route.

S1E3 - The Safe House

Locked in a safe house, Victor nervously waits for Frank as news of the diplomat's disappearance spreads quickly. Meanwhile, Frank tries to force the CIA's hand, but the strategy backfires.

S1E4 - A Test of Trust

While Nikolai is impatient with reports of defection, Frank takes Victor into custody at the American Embassy. Later, Mircea and Carmen try to cast doubt on Victor's true motives.

S1E5 - Bomb Maker

When Victor learns that Ileana is being interrogated by Chausescu's men, Ingrid gets word of an imminent bomb attack in Bonn and records a message for her daughter.

S1E6 - The Trojan Horse

Although Victor's information is helpful, a second target emerges and the German police and CIA are thrown into chaos. Amidst the chaos, Victor and Frank attempt to neutralize the attackers and make a last-ditch effort to help Victor escape to the United States.
