Batman Returns to VR! New Titles for Meta Quest 3

The long-running "Batman: Arkham" series is getting a new installment. Today, Meta announced that a new exclusive game for "Batman: Arkham Shadow" will be available for Meta Quest 3.

The VR game, discovered by The Verge, is being developed by Camouflaj and Oculus Studios, the developers of Iron Man VR, which was previously only available on PlayStation VR. Iron Man VR is a blast and one of the best VR games available today.

Meta's announcement does not provide much information. The post mainly shares a short trailer following a horde of rats, and then Batman arrives and smokes them. Indeed, it turns out.

The company said it will reveal more details at Summer Game Fest 2024 on June 7; Summer Game Fest is Geoff Keighley's E3 successor. It seems to have the endorsement of most major publishers, including Microsoft, Sony, and Meta. [This is the second time Batman: Arkham has received the VR treatment. Rocksteady Studios, the franchise's original publisher, released Batman: Arkham VR for PSVR in 2016. It wasn't great, so hopefully this time around it will be better.

Except for the mobile game and last year's awful "Suicide Squad: Take Down the Justice League!" Other than that, the Arkham series has not gotten a new mainline film since 2015's "Batman: Arkham Knight."

Sadly, "Suicide Squad" was the iconic Kevin Conroy's last outing as Batman. Meta's announcement did not specify who would lend his voice to the caped crusader.

Supposedly, actor Troy Baker, who is everywhere, has tried his hand at Batman in several different series, including Batman: The Telltale Series and Lego Batman. Roger Craig Smith (best known for his roles in Regular Show and most recently Sonic the Hedgehog) played the titular character in Batman: Arkham Origins, the third mainline film in the franchise, opposite Troy Baker's version of the Joker.
