The iPhone 16 leaks continue unabated, and the latest microleak introduces a change to the MagSafe charging ring on the upcoming device. The change is detailed on what appears to be a mold of Apple's next-generation iPhone.

A French case manufacturer called ShopSystem leaked images of the mold, which were discovered by 9to5Mac. The mold confirms a possible iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus camera layout and a slightly thinner MagSafe charging ring.

Apple introduced MagSafe in the iPhone 12, changing the way we use iPhones. Therefore, we sincerely hope that Apple will add MagSafe to the iPad. We are even excited about the patent on MagSafe. If Apple's patent for a rotating MagSafe becomes a reality, we will be the first to try it out.

That said, the mold leak seems to indicate that the magnet and coil MagSafe ring on the iPhone 16 is thinner than the one on the iPhone 15.

ShopSystem estimates that a thinner ring could reduce bulk and improve wireless charging. The company also expressed concern that manufacturers would have to adapt their products for these new MagSafe rings. However, this seems unlikely. Perhaps some of the third-party products may not align exactly, but they appear to be primarily in the same position on the mold.

Manufacturers will probably need to make changes to accommodate the new sizes that Apple is expected to introduce with the iPhone 16, including the very large iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max.

The mold also appears to confirm changes to the camera layout for the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus. Currently, the iPhone 15 features a square form factor with a diagonal camera layout.

The iPhone 16 will reportedly move to a smaller pill-like shape with two lenses stacked on top of each other. The flash has been moved to the right side of the lens. We have seen leaked images of the iPhone 16 before, and these molds seem to justify those images.

The iPhone 16 Pro model appears to have the same layout as the iPhone 15 Pro device; the differences between the 15 Pro and 16 Pro are internal, with more megapixels in the lens.

The new stacked form factor will likely bring spatial video recording to the iPhone 16, but that remains to be seen.
