'Bridgerton' Showrunner Teases Which Sibling Will Be Focus of Season 4

'Bridgerton' Showrunner Teases Which Sibling Will Be Focus of Season 4

Indeed, "Bridgerton" Season 3 has not even aired yet--the first four episodes will air on Thursday, May 16, and the final four episodes on Thursday, June 13--but we are already thinking about "Bridgerton" Season 4, specifically, thinking about which brother of the Bridgertons will serve as our romantic hero in that future edition.

A fourth season of "Bridgerton" is already in the works: Netflix officially ordered both season 3 and season 4 of the hit period drama in 2021, when season 2 was still in production. But after the character turnover that occurred in the series for the upcoming third installment, it is understandable that "Bridgerton" fans would want to know if the TV show will resume following the order of Julia Quinn's "Bridgerton" novels, on which the show is based. [Seasons 1 and 2 closely followed what author Julia Quinn wrote in the first and second "Bridgerton" novels, with the first focusing on Bridgerton's eldest daughter Daphne (Phoebe Dinever) and the Duke of Hastings (Rouget-Jean Page), the second on Anthony (Jonathan Bailey) and his intended sister Kate (Simone Ashley), which featured an adulterous romance.

However, season 3 instead adapted the story of "Bridgerton" volume 4, the friends-to-lovers relationship between Colin (Luke Newton) and Penelope Fetherington (Nicola Coughlan), and in season 4, finally, volume 3, "An Invitation from a Gentleman" Will the overlooked story of Benedict Bridgerton's search for love be told?

Jess Bromnell, the new showrunner for the show's third season, did not clearly state which Bridgerton siblings will be televised in season four, but hinted that viewers should keep an eye on season three for clues. She revealed to TV Insider: "But I think at the end of Season 3 there will be a hint of where we're headed. So I'll leave it up to the fans how they interpret it, but I think we have a small hand in it.

While Benedict is the most likely protagonist for "Bridgeton" Season 4, there are other siblings to consider. In particular, his sister Eloise Bridgerton (Claudia Jessie) and her connection to Sir Philip Crane (Chris Fulton), as well as his younger sister Francesca (played by actress Hannah Dodd, who took over the role this season from Ruby Stokes), who is one year younger. The youngest Bridgerton siblings, Gregory (Will Tilston) and Hyacinth (Florence Hunt), are still pre-teens, so the show will not immediately focus on their marital life.

As for who the show will focus on in the future, we will have more answers when the third season of "Bridgerton" premieres on Thursday, May 16. Tom's Guide will keep you updated on upcoming episodes, including Benedict, Eloise, and Francesca. In the meantime, you can rewatch the first two seasons of "Bridgerton" on Netflix and revisit Daphne and Anthony's romantic journey.
