'Bridgerton's' Nicolas Coughlan Teases Furniture Breaking 'Polin' Love Scene in Season 3

'Bridgerton's' Nicolas Coughlan Teases Furniture Breaking 'Polin' Love Scene in Season 3

Considering how hot the previous two "Bridgerton" films made fans, it is understandable that Nicolas Coughlan and Luke Newton wanted to raise the bar when it came to love scenes in "Pollin." Of course, we are talking about Penelope Fetherington and Colin Bridgerton. And according to Coughlan, the actors were not afraid to give their all in that intimate moment. [The scene in which Coughlan's Penelope and Newton's Colin look at each other in the mirror recalls the infamous sequence in Julia Quinn's "Romancing Mister Bridgerton," on which the third season is based. (The 30-second teaser also reminded fans of the release date for the new season, which will be released in two installments of episodes on Netflix: the first four episodes will debut on Thursday, May 16, followed by the last four on Thursday, June 13.)

Also speaking with Entertainment Weekly, Coughlan revealed that things got heightened during the filming of a love scene: "I broke a piece of furniture during the filming of that scene. I didn't know what it was going to be like, but it was like a stunt, like, 'Okay, I'm going to do this and this and this.'"

"But they gave us a lot of freedom and we had a lot of say in how we did those scenes and what we wanted to do. And then we felt empowered to say, 'Yes, we're going to do this and this and this.' So we felt super. It was really fun. I didn't think it was going to happen. It was great. It was fun."

But despite the success of the romantic moment in "Pollin," Coughlan doesn't want her Irish Catholic family to see it; during an April 4 appearance on SiriusXM Hits 1, the "Bridgerton" star showed her parents revealed that she had actually requested a cut of the new PG-rated season from Netflix, which is free of the body-baring, bustle-squeezing, and bottom-baring content for which she has become known.

"It's literally in my contract. People think I'm joking. 'I don't want to. We were raised as Irish Catholics. We were raised Irish Catholics.

While on the radio show, Coughlan also joked about his mother's reaction to the first few seasons of "Bridgerton:" She said, "When Coughlan first saw 'Bridgerton,' she didn't realize how sexy it was. But now he thinks it's great and really funny and talks about his butt all the time."

Such sexiness may not be allowed in the Coughlan household, but it is clearly the mood of most "Bridgerton" viewers. While we wait for the steamy new episodes of Season 3, including furniture-breaking details and a teaser for "POLIN," "Tom's Guide" will bring you the latest "Bridgerton"-related news.
