Tidal makes high-resolution music distribution as cheap as Apple Music

Tidal officially announced its new hi-res streaming plan today (April 10), integrating lossless audio and hi-res tiers into a new personal plan for $10.99/£10.99/ A$12.99/month. This is good news for high-res music streaming fans like myself, as the monthly subscription fee to access Tidal's high-res music content has been reduced to the same price as Apple Music.

Tidal's HiFi and HiFi Plus subscription plans are gone, and HiFi Plus subscribers will automatically switch to the new plans.

One of the best music streaming services, Tidal's new plans offer subscribers a flat fee for the entire library of over 110 million songs in lossless and high-resolution FLAC, as well as spatial audio content in Dolby Atmos and Sony 360 Reality Audio for a flat fee with no additional charge.

The ad-free service includes access to personalized mixes, editorial playlists, live sessions, and offline listening; the DJ Extension add-on provides access to Tidal's entire catalog for $9 per month plus tax. The Family plan is $16.99/month and allows up to six accounts to access the entire Tidal library, while the Tidal Student plan is only $4.99.

Tidal was the first music streaming service to offer a high-resolution audio library, but to date has charged high fees to access its premium content library and features. Tidal's streamlining and price cuts are now unusual in the world of streaming services. Just recently, Spotify announced that it is raising its premium subscription to $11.99/£11.99/month for individuals (up from $10.99/£10.99), which Bloomberg reports is a 9% price increase that will roll out in select markets starting later this month. It is scheduled to roll out in select markets starting at the end of this month.

1. Full access to Tidal's high-resolution library: Tidal's music library offers over 110 million songs in lossless audio and high-res FLAC. Approximately 200,000 high-resolution songs are added each week.

2. Spatial Audio Content: Two other features bundled with this new Tidal package are 360 Reality Audio and Dolby Atmos spatial audio integration.

3. offline listening: Tidal tracks and videos can be downloaded to your phone for offline listening.

4. exclusive content: consists of concerts, curated mixes, discovery radio stations, podcasts, shows, etc.

5. best content curation: algorithmically generated recommendations are personalized to music and video mixes that fit the user's listening habits, making My Daily Discovery a surefire way to find new artists and songs It's a tool.

Spotify is the only streaming service without lossless, high-resolution, or spatial audio streaming tiers, and Tidal's new streamlined subscription plan is another great reason to consider switching.
