As soon as the Fallout TV show aired on Prime Video, Bethesda finally announced the release date for the highly anticipated Fallout 4 update for next-gen consoles. The patch will be available on PC, PS5, Xbox Series X and Series S on April 25.

Bethesda originally announced the patch in 2022 as part of the Fallout series' 25th anniversary and said it would be released in 2023; 2023 passed, its release date was pushed back to 2024, and now the release date is confirmed: free Fallout 4 upgrade! upgrade will be released on April 25.

The patch is primarily intended to bring Bethesda's post-apocalyptic open-world role-playing game to the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S consoles, and includes native console applications, performance mode and Quality Mode settings, and 60fps gameplay will be added. The update will also include stability improvements, login and quest fixes, and other updates for older generation consoles such as PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

On PC, Bethesda announced this week that in addition to creation kit fixes and various quest updates, widescreen and ultra widescreen support will be added.As a big fan of Steam Deck, I'm excited that Fallout 4's latest patch I was most excited to see that it would be Steam Deck certified. Currently, the game is listed as "playable" on Steam's portable console, one level below "verified". This indicates that players may encounter occasional issues or need to manually tweak the game to run.Fallout 4 will also be released on the Epic Games store.

As part of the update, Bethesda also announced a number of additional content for Fallout 4.

This includes new weapon and armor skins, Tesla Cannon, Hellfire, X-02 Power Armor, Heavy Incinerator, a pre-war fascist paramilitary themed Enclave familiar from Fallout 2 and Fallout 3 and other free Creation Club items. If you're itching to crawl out of Fallout one more time, Bethesda will also add a new quest called "Echoes of the Past" where players fight to stop the Enclave from gaining a foothold in the Federation.

The new Makeshift Weapon Pack adds unconventional objects that transform into deadly weapons, such as baseball launchers, nail guns, and piggy banks. There will also be a number of new Halloween decorations for the settlement, including witches, cauldrons, and ghouls.

The "Fallout 4" next-gen update will be available on PlayStation and Xbox consoles, as well as PC on Steam, GOG, Microsoft Store, and Epic Games Store on April 25.
