Netflix New: 7 Movies and Shows to Watch This Week (April 1-7)

Spring brings with it a deluge of new content from Netflix, and the beginning of April brings with it a slew of new Netflix shows and movies. This is where Patricia Highsmith's classic character (previously known as The Talented Mr.) Andrew Scott finds him descending into a life of deceit and deception in Matt Damon's reimagining of this story.

There is also "Scoop," based on a 2019 BBC Newsnight interview with Prince Andrew, who staunchly defended his relationship with Jeffrey Epstein. The diverse cast, led by Gillian Anderson, will explore how this interview came about and what happened behind the camera at the time. Check out this week's new Netflix shows on a daily basis.

Hosted by, you guessed it, Justin Willman. This show is a hilarious prank show with a strange twist. Willman uses his incredible trickster skills to pull off a series of devilishly comical pranks that will amaze you. With the help of a professional team of twisted pranksters, Willman opens a box of mind-bending tricks on unsuspecting targets and even helps them settle old scores. Comedian Dimitri Martin returns after six years with a standup special. This new "story" is told in multiple parts and is full of demented doodles, musical jokes, and faceless jokes. There's also more music playing in the background, more self-deprecating jokes, and enough bang-soup to fill a time capsule from the late 2000s.

The long-in-development sequel to the iconic '90s film Space Jam arrives in 2021. In "Space Jam: A New Legacy," LeBron James will stand in for Michael Jordan, and the record-holding basketball star will lead a team of cartoon characters, including Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, and Taz, against an AI-generated super team that They must then face off against an AI-generated super-team. In this epic sports showdown, the winner takes it all, and it's loaded with outrageous cameos. - RM

Andrew Scott stars as Tom Ripley in this new take on Patricia Highsmith's classic character. On a mission to convince the son of a wealthy man to return home and take over the family business, Ripley heads to Italy in the 60s. Although she intends to carry out her mission, this becomes the beginning of an endless spiral of lies and deceit, and Ripley spends most of her time lying about her true identity and murdering anyone who tries to expose her secret. If you liked "Mr. Ripley" starring Matt Damon, this Swedish-set film is a must-see.

In 2019, the infamous BBC Newsnight interview in which Prince Andreu was defensive about his relationship with Jeffrey Epstein aired on television. And in 2024, a film based on that very interview, Scoop, will be released on Netflix. Starring Gillian Anderson and other familiar faces, the film explores how this scoop was secured and the behind-the-scenes turmoil that occurred before, during, and after the show.

Based on the manga series by Hitoshi Iwaki, the live-action Korean TV adaptation of "Parasite" is exactly what it sounds like. An alien who takes over the body of his host plans to take over the earth, starting with Jeong Soo-in (Jeong Soon-ae) after a failed attempt to take over her brain; the two develop a strange symbiotic relationship, and Jeong Soo-in tries to stop the invasion before it destroys the human race.
