Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 Ultra now looks legit.

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 Ultra was recently thought to be dead, but that may not be the case after all.

Backing up a bit, rumors about an Ultra version of the upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 6 began to surface after WinFuture's Max Jambor revealed the name of the third model in this year's Galaxy Z family of foldable phones: Q6 for the Z Fold 6 and B6 for refers to the Z Flip 6, while Q6a remained unannounced.

Now the Galaxy Club has dug a little deeper and found the model number SM-F958. This may seem like a meaningless string of numbers and letters until you look at the site's other data points:

The number "8" at the end of the model designates the Ultra version of Samsung's Galaxy phone in recent years. Thus, the SM-F95 portion of the mystery phone indicates a Galaxy Z Fold 6 phone, but the final 8 refers to the Ultra Twist.

However, Galaxy Club has bad news for both its Dutch readers and potential U.S. buyers. So far, the site has only been able to find the SM-F958N for Korea, Samsung's home market.

That doesn't necessarily mean that the Galaxy Z Fold 6 Ultra won't be available outside of Korea, but if it is, it will be delayed at least a few months.

As for what might make this device an "Ultra," there is no room for speculation. Samsung's Galaxy S24 Ultra builds on its siblings with a larger screen, heavier battery, 200MP lead camera, bundled S Pen, etc., and may be a blueprint for what Samsung is going to offer in the Ultra foldable. Perhaps the Ultra model will also offer a more powerful zoom.

That said, a built-in S Pen like the one on the S24 Ultra would be a major challenge given that the phone would have to be deployed; each side of the Galaxy Z Fold 5 is only 6.1 mm thick, leaving little room for a dock.

We should know this when we learn what Samsung has planned for this summer. Thanks to the company's sponsorship of the Paris Olympics, it is rumored that the next Samsung Unpacked event will take place the second week of July. Alongside the new Foldable, we also expect to see the Samsung Galaxy Watch 7 and the long-awaited Galaxy Ring.
