Roku's new partnership with the NBA will liven up TV home screens with the launch of an ad-supported basketball channel and the NBA Zone, which offers instant access to games, highlights and more.

Announcing the news in a blog post, Roku touted the new NBA channel, which officially launches today; through the Roku channel, users will be able to easily catch up on a variety of basketball content.

This new Roku sports destination will offer an in-depth look at countless highlights, original series, interviews, classic games, recaps, and documentaries. As part of the partnership, Roku will also exclusively broadcast 40 live NBA G League games nationally during the 2024-2025 season.

NBA Zone gives basketball fans the latest news and highlights from their favorite teams, bringing them the latest updates on all the action directly from their Roku Plus Series 4K QLED TV or Roku Streaming Stick 4K.

Named "NBA FAST," which stands for "free ad-supported streaming TV," Roku's new channel will be the home for all Major League Baseball fans, inviting users to explore an array of NBA-related content. This new NBA home will be available for a limited time, but Roku has not disclosed how long it will be available.

NBA FAST will not include live games, but will offer a variety of different types of basketball experiences. Roku defines them as original series, classic games, highlights, recaps, documentaries, studio shows, and interviews The NBA FAST channel can be accessed through the Roku Channel app on Roku Smart TV or the Live TV channel guide.

Similarly, the NBA Zone will be a place for NBA fans to visit on Roku TV to select their favorite teams and push the latest news and highlights to their home screen; NBA League Pass (a premium broadcast viewing service) can be purchased from the NBA Zone, plus the NBA app integrated into Roku's new basketball hub.

This partnership will make the best Roku TV the best place to experience the NBA, and may give Google TV a run for its money.
