Your favorite online game for the past few years is now free with Amazon Prime - here's how to claim it now!

Prime Gaming is one of the best Amazon Prime membership benefits. The service gives subscribers access to a rotating selection of free games, and the lineup has just been refreshed with one of the best online games I've played in years.

Starting today, Thursday, April 4, Amazon Prime members can get the PC version of Chivalry 2 for free (via the Epic Games store). This great free offer is available until May 8, simply select "Chivalry 2" in the "Games" tab of the Prime Gaming Hub and follow the on-screen instructions to download the game.

Plus, there's still time for March's free games, including Fallout 2, Fallout Tactics, Brotherhood of Steel, Bus Simulator: Bus Simulator 21: Next Stop, and Black Desert. And if that's not enough, Prime Gaming is also giving away DLC items for popular online titles such as Overwatch 2, Apex Legends, and EA Sports FC 24.

Don't forget that Amazon Prime members have access to Prime Gaming. Be sure to check this platform regularly so you don't miss out on any epic free games. Plus, once you claim a free game, it's yours forever. So even if you don't have time to play this month, you can always come back at a later date, so get it now.

While I generally enjoy online gaming, I sometimes find the pressure of it frustrating. After all, it's hard to relax and have fun when you're getting pummeled by veteran players or your K/D ratio is in the negative numbers. But in "Chivalry 2," I never had that problem. I always have fun, even when I'm getting beat up.

Chivalry 2 is an online game that puts you as a medieval soldier in battles around the world, from muddy fields to sandy arenas. Playing in either first-person or third-person perspective (switchable at any time), you grab an array of melee weapons and plunge into skirmishes. If cold steel doesn't work, you can pick up the dismembered heads of fallen combatants and throw them at your enemies instead.

The combat in Chivarly 2 is brutal, bloody, and seriously bonkers. So much happens at once on screen that you are often cut to pieces without even knowing who inflicted the fatal wound. But amidst all this carnage, comedy reigns supreme, and the reason "Chivalry 2" never gets annoying is that it's always insanely funny. Furthermore, as in the recent "Helldivers 2," friendly fire is on by default, so it's entirely possible (yes, I'm speaking from personal experience) to accidentally cut down a teammate in an attempt to poke an enemy soldier's eye out.

Those looking for depth of gameplay will also be satisfied, as the combat in "Chivalry 2" is quite solid. It embodies the "easy to get, hard to master" credo well. If you work at it, you can become a medieval killing machine that makes the Black Knight look puny. But this leads to one of the game's few drawbacks: high-level players have a significant advantage over newcomers. Fortunately, with Chivalry's arrival on Prime Gaming, newcomers will learn the game together.

Chivalry 2 offers a variety of ways to play (although there is no single-player), but it is in the flagship attacker versus defender mode that the game shines the most. Even in this mode, the combat is utterly chaotic, but each team has a clear objective, giving the game the structure it needs. However, if you just want to mindlessly stab around, there is a dedicated deathmatch mode.

I have been playing "Chivalry 2" since its release in the summer of 2021, and I can attest that now is a very good time to step into the historical battlefield. The developer, Torn Banner Studios, has done an excellent job of keeping the game fresh by offering a series of free post-launch support, which continues to this day. Chivalry 2 was a bit thin on content when it first came out, but that's no longer the case.

Chivalry 2 is a game I have recommended countless times over the years, even when it was still full price. It's online gaming at its best.
