It is almost certain that Samsung is developing a Galaxy Watch Fan Edition (FE). After some research, the folks at AndroidHeadlines have discovered the model number of the upcoming Galaxy smartwatch. As expected, the smartwatch is called the Galaxy Watch FE, and the release of a more affordable smartwatch is as close to confirmed as possible.

The model number of the unreleased smartwatch is SM-R866. So far, three model numbers (SM-R866F, SM-R866U, and SM-R866N) have been found that appear to be from the Galaxy Watch FE line.

Unfortunately, while the model numbers tell us that the Galaxy Watch FE is almost certain to exist, they do not tell us much about the watch. We don't know exactly what size it will come in or what specs it will offer, but we can expect it to be more modest than the current Galaxy Watch 6 model.

Based on its similarity to the Galaxy Watch 4 model number SM-R860, we can assume that the Galaxy Watch FE will come with similar specs to the smartwatch released in 2021. If Samsung's goal is to create a more affordable smartwatch, the Galaxy Watch 4 would be a good starting point, as it is still moderately capable, but with modest enough specs to bring the price down.

Korean publication The Elec reported that Samsung plans to release an FE version of the smartwatch in the summer. This would coincide with the release dates of the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Z Flip 6, as well as the rumored Galaxy Fold FE.

Of course, Samsung is also expected to release the Galaxy Watch 7 for those seeking the strongest specs and latest features. There is no shortage of rumors about this high-end smartwatch, so we are confident that it will be announced at the same time as a more affordable model.

Since Apple has the Apple Watch SE to attract buyers looking for an affordable smartwatch, it makes sense that Samsung would target similar buyers with its latest offering. so it is possible that Samsung will target the Fan Edition's $200 price point, but only time will tell.
