'Game of Thrones' Actor Doesn't Want to See 'House of Dragons' - Here's Why

Most "Game of Thrones" fans were excited by the news that the fantasy series would be spun off in the form of "House of Dragons." For one thing, the show would further expand the world of Westeros and take us back nearly 200 years from the events of the main series. Another is that it will free everyone's minds from that controversial "Game of Thrones" series finale. However, one member of the "Game of Thrones" family does not seem to be paying attention to this prequel series. John Bradley, who played Samwell Tarly in all eight seasons of [Game of Thrones], was promoting Netflix's new sci-fi thriller "3 Body Problem" (from the creators of "Game of Thrones"), the Emmy-winning prequel He told the New York Post why he is hesitant to watch the series.

"'Game of Thrones' feels a little too recent to watch," Bradley admitted. But, he added, "Comparisons to 'Game of Thrones' are being made a little too easily now for [him] to really be able to properly invest in it."

The actor also revealed that he feels the spinoff has "less scope" than the original HBO series. He told the magazine, "It feels like a slightly different show. In 'Game of Thrones,' there were a lot of characters across all seven kingdoms. There was more room for all of humanity there. ...... I feel like "House of the Dragon" concentrates on one particular area of the story and one particular area of humanity. So it feels a little bit narrower in scope."

Bradley is right that the focus of "House of the Dragon" is more specific than in the previous film, and it focuses on one family in Westeros, the dragon-riding House of the Targaryens, and what happened within the family at the height of its power: the heir to the throne of her father Viserys I, Rainira Targaryen (Emma Darcy) and her half-brother Aegon II (Tom Glynn-Kearney) over the throne. (FYI, for "Game of Thrones" fans who, like John Bradley, have yet to channel "HOTD," Rainira is Daenerys Targaryen's sixth great-grandmother.)

"House of Dragons" Season 2 will air on Sunday, June 16 It will be rebroadcast on HBO, and happily, it is much sooner than we originally thought.

So John Bradley may eventually catch up with "House of Dragons". (Samwell Tarly's best friend was a Targaryen.)
