Netflix Releases Intriguing New Video for "Bridgerton" Season 3

The countdown to Season 3 of Netflix's "Bridgerton" continues with a new clip released today that introduces the couple at the center of the second season, Anthony Bridgerton (Jonathan Bailey) and Kate Sharma (Simone Ashley). Also glimpsed is Penelope Fetherington (Nicola Coughlan), whose romance with Colin Bridgerton (Luke Newton), adapted from author Julia Quinn's novel "Romancing Mister Bridgerton," will be the focus of the next season.

In the video, married Anthony and Kate (a.k.a. Cantney) look across the room at the ball, like two shy young lovers. Anthony approaches his wife, who is talking to his mother Violet (Ruth Gemmell), and requests some time alone with her.

"I would like to use that time to dance with my beautiful wife," he says, and the couple take the floor with radiant expressions on their faces, looking very much in love and even sharing a brief kiss, which Violet watches proudly. Penelope, on the other hand, watches nervously and fidgetily from the sidelines.

The clip also features actress Hannah Dodd, who replaces Ruby Stokes as Francesca, Anthony's sister. At the beginning of the clip, Francesca seems a bit distressed and says that Anthony needs some time to himself. This is because Francesca's own love life is the focus of Quinn's sixth novel, "Bridgerton," and it is unclear when that book will be adapted for the show.

For "Bridgerton" Season 3, Jess Brownell has taken over as showrunner from series creator Chris Van Dusen, with Shonda Rhimes continuing as executive producer. The storyline will skip Quinn's third "Bridgton" film, "An Offer from a Gentleman," for a moment and instead focus on the fourth film.

The season will premiere in two installments on Netflix, with the first four episodes arriving on May 16 and the last four on June 13. So "Bridgerton" fans will still have to wait nearly two months before they can see how Colin and Penelope repair their damaged friendship in the second season and take that friendship to the next level. Thankfully, Netflix is offering clips like this one to keep expectations high while the romantic fun awaits.
