The trailer for Adam Sandler's new Netflix film has been released.

Adam Sandler and Netflix have been working together for almost a decade, but the results of their long partnership have been almost nil. Indeed, the actor's first original film to appear on the streaming service, 2015's The Ridiculous 6, earned a very rare 0% on review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes.

So I am pleasantly shocked that the new trailer for Sandler's latest Netflix project looks very promising. The film is titled Spaceman, and it features the popular comedic actor turning his usual slapstick potty humor into a serious role. As moviegoers will know, Sandler is actually a very talented dramatic actor when he takes a break from fart jokes.

In "Spaceman," Sandler plays Jakub Prochazka, a lonely astronaut who is on his way to the edge of the solar system. Light years from home and feeling cut off from his loved ones, including his pregnant wife (Carey Mulligan), Yakub begins to wonder if there is anything or anyone waiting for him when he returns to Earth.

Then the disillusioned astronaut discovers a mysterious spider-like creature hiding at the bottom of the ship. But fear not, this alien is not a rampaging Xenomorph. On the contrary, the creature, known as Hanush (voiced by Paul Dano), helps them pick up the shattered pieces of Yakub's complex relationships. [Of course, on the surface, the extraterrestrial spider creature may not seem like the ideal therapist, but as Yakub and Hanush unravel the troubled man's life, their friendship deepens and the astronaut is forced to confront his flaws and past mistakes and overcome them.

"Spaceman" is directed by Johan Lenk. He directed all five episodes of HBO's critically acclaimed "Chernobyl" miniseries and won an Emmy for this masterful show. The film is based on the well-received 2017 novel "Aliens in Bohemia" by Czech author Jaroslav Kalfar. In other words, there is plenty of reason to be optimistic about this film.

The sci-fi drama will debut at the Berlin International Film Festival next month, and from the looks of this first trailer, "Spaceman" may rocket to the top of the best movies you can watch on Netflix. The trailer is a thoughtful sci-fi film that tugs at the heartstrings and serves as a well-timed reminder of Adam Sandler's authentic acting ability. [13][14] "Spaceman" comes to Netflix on March 1, but it's not Netflix's only notable project; Netflix is also releasing a new Guy Ritchie film based on the British director's popular 2020 gangster film "The Gentleman" The plan is to do so. But if you want something you can watch right now, check out Netflix's new true crime documentary, which is already making a splash online.
