'The White Lotus' Season 3 Cast, Release Date Info and More

Two years have passed since the second season of "White Lotus" ended in December 2022. Avid fans are eagerly awaiting "White Lotus" Season 3. The good news is that it is in production. The bad news. It may take a while to check in.

"The White Lotus" premiered in July 2021 as a limited series set in a Hawaiian hotel. It contrasted the dire problems of the privileged (mostly white) population with the poor conditions suffered daily by the staff who served them. Following its ratings and awards success, the show moved to Sicily for Season 2, where the focus shifted to sex and power struggles.

Season 3 will feature a new cast and focus on a different theme as well as new locales. Creator Mike White said in a behind-the-scenes video after the Season 2 finale, "I think the third season will be a satirical and funny look at death and Eastern religion and spirituality."

"I feel like it would be a rich tapestry to do another round on White Lotus.

Quite a bit of new information about the upcoming season has emerged. Unfortunately, one of them is the fact that the return to the hotel will not take place in 2024. Here is what we know so far about "White Lotus" Season 3.

Although "The White Lotus" will return for a third season, it will not appear on your television for quite some time; the 2023 writers' strike ended relatively briefly, but the SAG-AFTRA strike that occurred at the same time, the latest episode of the show meant that production on the set could not yet begin. At the time, casting was still taking place and the script was not yet complete.

With that in mind, HBO released a statement via Variety giving fans a realistic date when the show might be revived, which according to HBO and Max chairman and CEO Casey Bloys is not until 2025.

"Season 3 of 'White Lotus' was probably supposed to air in 2024, but it's 2025," Broyles told reporters at a press event, acknowledging that production was indeed affected by both the writers and actors' strike.

That is obviously quite a long way off, a full year to be exact. In a few months we will have a more concrete date for the film's release. But right now it is still unknown.

Since "White Lotus" is an anthology series, each new season brings new faces. Season 3 is no different, with a whole new cast that will be seen around the hotel.

In April 2023, Variety reported that Natasha Rothwell, who played spa manager Belinda Lindsay, will also appear in season 3.

"White Lotus" Season 3 may bring back characters from the previous two seasons, but Tanya (Jennifer Coolidge) will not be among them, as she died after falling off a yacht after shooting mafia gays.

While the decision to kill off a beloved character may seem odd, creator White said, "I thought it would be great fun to bring Tanya back. I love Tanya as a character, and obviously I love Jennifer, so it's not that I really wanted to kill Tanya, it's just that we're going to Italy, and she's kind of a diva, she's kind of a prototype for a larger woman, so we wanted to bring Tanya's life and her I felt like we could give the story our own operatic ending."

However, "White Lotus" Season 3 will add a wide variety of new cast members to the crew:

The roles of the new cast members have not yet been revealed, but additional information will likely be forthcoming soon as it is rapidly becoming clear who will appear in Season 3.

Welcome to White Lotus: Ty.

The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) and HBO announced that filming for Season 3 of "The White Lotus" is scheduled to begin in February in Bangkok, Phuket and Koh Samui. [TAT President Thapanee Kiatphaibool said in a press release, "We are honored that the wonderful Thailand will be featured as the filming location for the upcoming season of the highly anticipated 'The White Lotus. [The kingdom's exotic natural beauty, rich historical sites, and diverse landscapes are the perfect setting to share our fascinating culture, wonderful cuisine, top-notch wellness and luxury services, and most importantly, our people and Thai hospitality.

Neither TAT nor HBO have confirmed the exact location of the filming, but it is certain to be at the Four Seasons Hotel. Season 1 was filmed at the Four Seasons Resort Maui at Wailea, and Season 2 was filmed at the San Domenico Palace, a five-star resort operated by Four Seasons in the town of Taormina, Sicily.

Fans had previously speculated that Season 3 would be filmed at one of the four Four Seasons properties in Thailand. Two of them are located in Koh Samui and Bangkok.

The second season of "The White Lotus" left audiences with many lingering questions, especially surrounding the shocking events leading to Greg and Tanya's deaths. With that in mind, it seems likely that the next season will build on these events, especially in resolving the various questions that went unanswered at the end of the season.

The finale piqued interest in Greg's true intentions toward Tanya, his mysterious phone conversation, and whether Portia would ever question him about the extent of his responsibility.

As for the anticipated third season, creator White has hinted at a shift in setting and theme. While the first season explored the dynamics of wealth and the second season delved into the complexities of sexual relationships, the third season is expected to focus on death and Eastern spirituality. This pivot could significantly change the mood of the series, but may result in a new focus.
