Philips Hue Announces New Indoor/Outdoor Lighting and Expensive Floodlight Cameras

Philips Hue has launched a new collection of smart home devices. In addition to interior and exterior smart lights, the collection also includes new floodlight cameras and expands on the company's earlier offerings when it comes to home security cameras. An overview of each new device, pricing, and release dates are as follows.

The Dymera Wall Light is the company's newest wall sconce and can be installed indoors or outdoors. It has a distinctive rectangular form and two separately controlled light fluxes. The light is directed up and down, emitting a warm white and a cooler color. This creates an atmospheric appearance that accentuates exterior wall textures or draws attention to landscaping and interior landscaping, etc. Available for $219 at launch on February 27.

The Philips Hue Secure floodlight is a wired outdoor security camera for 24/7 watch over driveways and backyards. Unlike many other floodlight cameras, the Philips Hue's light color can be changed from white to colored light, allowing it to be used as accent lighting in addition to a security system. The floodlights will be available in the U.S. on February 27 for the rather expensive price of $349.

The company will also push updates to the Security Center in the Philips Hue app in early 2024 to improve push notifications and event timelines and enhance the Secure floodlight experience. In addition, Philips Hue is developing Amazon Alexa and Google Home support for the updated Secure system.

For those seeking even more customizability, there is a new track lighting option for the Philips Hue Perifo system with T-connector, which will be available in April. The rails can be run in three directions. There is also a new flexible connector that can shape the track in any direction, not just the standard 90-degree angle, allowing for creative layouts of ceiling lights that reach the wall. And if you have Philips Hue filament bulbs, you can spruce them up with the newly announced 3D printed pendant cord.

Existing lighting lineups like the Philips Hue Go portable table lamp will also be updated. The gadget will have new teal and orange grips. It will be brighter and last up to 48 hours on a single charge. The wireless charging station can go from fully out to fully charged in just four hours. Meanwhile, the Philips Hue Being ceiling light will be available in new black and white colors in addition to the existing aluminum version.
