The power of AI is astounding, and the Galaxy S24 proves it with its array of Galaxy AI features. Strictly speaking, there is only one AI-assisted feature that accompanies video recording, called "Instant Slow Motion," but this is exactly what helps after the fact.

Rather than settling for the Galaxy S24's dedicated slow-motion mode, Instant Slow Motion can be used to apply a slow-motion effect to any video recorded by the phone. This gives Galaxy S24 users the mentality of shooting now and worrying about it later. Instant slow motion allows for uninterrupted recording and slow playback of desired portions later.

In our review of the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra, we were surprised at how compelling this magic can be because it works as a dedicated slow motion video. But the best thing about instant slow motion is that it works at almost any resolution and frame rate.

Indeed, we wish the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max had such a feature. But we will have to wait for the iPhone 16 series (probably).

It is possible that older models like the Galaxy S23 will have the Galaxy AI feature, but for now it is only available on the Galaxy S24 series. Samsung can add slow motion to video recorded on the S24 by adding the necessary frames; it works with all resolutions and frame rates except 8K.

We tested this and found it so convincing that it is hard to tell if the phone's actual slow motion mode was used first. There is a small ghosting effect in busy scenes, but the overall look of the instant slow motion clips is justified.

In addition to instant slow motion, there are several other useful Galaxy AI features that we found practical. For example, the Circle to Search feature, which allows users to enter results without exiting the app they are using, makes searching on the phone more pleasant. There is also the convincing photo editing capability of Generative Edit. You can resize or move the subject, and the AI will fill in the gaps.
