The anthology series "Genius" returns with its fourth installment. Genius MLK/X" presents the remarkable story of civil rights leaders Martin Luther King, Jr. and Malcolm X.

"Genius MLK/X" explores the parallel lives of these two icons as they wrestle with the pressures of public life, the toll it has taken on their and their wives Coretta Scott King and Betty Shabazz's lives, the threat to their physical safety, and of course, their untimely deaths at the hands of assassins explored in the course of the book.

Kelvin Harrison Jr. ("The Trial of the Chicago Seven") and Aaron Pierre ("The Underground Railroad") play King and Malcolm X, respectively, while Verce Opia ("I May Destroy You") and Jamie Lawson ("Batman") play their tough wives. The late Ron Cephas Jones ("This Is Us") will play Nation of Islam leader Elijah Muhammad. Episode 1: "Graduation"

Focuses on the formative years of Martin Luther King Jr. and Malcolm X, focusing on their experiences and relationships as young children and teenagers that shaped and influenced what they would later become iconic figures. Malcolm's release from prison and King's graduation from Boston University begin their respective journeys that will one day change the country, but also begin a budding rivalry.

Episode 2 - Who we are

Malcolm is introduced to Elijah Muhammad, who recognizes his potential at NOI and takes him under his wing, but temptation from an old lover and family ties test his strength. Martin introduces Coretta to the King family and brings her in. Martin finds his voice in the church and is forced to make a career decision that changes his relationship with Daddy King.

Episode 3 - Protect us

Malcolm creates a place for Muslims in the Harlem community and meets new member Betty Saunders. As the Montgomery Bus Boycott intensifies, Martin and his new family face safety concerns. In the end, they both soar to heights they never imagined.

Episode 4 "Behold the Throne"

An attack forces Martin to confront his own mortality and whether fear is affecting his leadership. Malcolm sees an opportunity to raise the profile of the NOI by producing a documentary about it. However, the consequences of his actions begin to surface. Meanwhile, Malcolm's family grows and Betty feels alone.

Episode 5 - Matriarchs

With Martin wrongfully imprisoned, Coretta must muster the strength to keep moving forward. When the opportunity to help Martin presents itself, she takes it, despite Dr. King's objections. While Malcolm refuses to listen to her request, Betty takes drastic action to save her marriage. Memories of the past and visions of the future show her the way.

Episode 6 "The Promise of America"

To pass the Civil Rights Act, Martin and his allies take on their biggest undertaking yet: the March on Washington. As the march approaches, Martin struggles to find the right words to unite the nation. Malcolm is about to be suspended by the state and reassesses his relationship with Elijah.

Episode 7 "Sword and Shield"

After his departure from the NOI, the pain of betrayal from Elijah takes its toll on Malcolm mentally, physically, and emotionally; when further betrayals within the NOI extend to him and Betty, he decides to speak out; the FBI targets Martin and Coretta; and the FBI's "secretive" and "secretive" relationship with the NOI is threatened, stress and paranoia, but the passage of the Civil Rights Act gives Martin and Malcolm hope and a chance to meet each other.

Episode 8 "Can You Imagine"

Malcolm knows his death is imminent, but he works hard until his final moments to care for his family, reconcile with his brothers, and speak truth to power about the nation and the best way forward. In the aftermath of Malcolm's death, Martin feels his own mortality and decides that he can no longer remain silent about the Vietnam War. A terrible day in Memphis shakes the world.
