YouTube TV gets a major upgrade for sports fans - what you need to know

YouTube TV is about to get even better for fans of live sports with a long-awaited upgrade to its Multiview feature, which will allow users to build custom Multiview screens of their own choosing rather than being tied to only the games YouTube TV decides they want to watch.

Multiview first appeared last year as a March Madness preview feature. It allowed users to watch up to four sports broadcasts simultaneously on a single TV screen. Since then, non-sports content has been offered, allowing an even wider range of games to be enjoyed.

However, it was not ideal, as it was tied to pre-set viewing options. Fortunately, that situation is about to change. A Reddit user (via 9to5Google) discovered that a new "build multi-view" option is rolling out to some users.

That is, if you are streaming one live game, you can add up to three more live games by selecting the "build" option. However, if you like a curated list, it will still allow you to choose. It also appears that this feature will not be limited to NBA games, but will allow you to choose from any game currently being played.

However, Google told The Verge that the feature is currently limited to NBA League Pass and NCAA basketball games; YouTube TV plans to add more live sports "over the next few months."

But that's not all YouTube TV has in store for its subscribers. Google is also making changes to its features to reduce delays in live streams.

Previously, subscribers could select "Reduce Broadcast Delay" in the three-point menu, but this was only active for 48 hours. However, this feature is only active for 48 hours. However, YouTube warns that video playback may be more choppy than expected.

So, it's a good time to be a sports fan with a YouTube TV account. Especially if you like basketball. Hopefully more games will support the new multi-view feature and Google will continue its efforts to reduce live game delays as much as possible.
