"Brother's Sun" is a smash hit on Netflix. The action comedy, in which Michelle Yeoh plays the former patriarch of a gangster family, has been viewed for more than 11.5 million hours on Netflix and spent five consecutive weeks in the Netflix Top 10.

Yet, the buzz around this Netflix original TV show seems subdued. Perhaps it's because "Griselda" is dominating the Netflix conversation thanks to Sofia Vergara's star performance, but by all accounts, the show should be an Internet sensation rather than a surprise hit for the streaming service.

The TV show is the often brutal story of a family trying to escape their sordid past. Bruce Sun (Sam Sonley) thinks he is just another Taiwanese-American kid living in California with his mother, Eileen (Michelle Yeoh). But his other family members are ...... Yes, they know better.

That's because they still live in Taipei. Bruce's father was a well-known Taiwanese crime lord, and Bruce's mother took him away from his family to America.

But their lives are shattered when an assassination attempt on the patriarch puts the entire family, including Bruce, in danger. So his brother Charles (Justin Chen) comes to America to protect Bruce and Irene from a rival organization vying for control of Taiwan's underworld.

"The Sun Brothers" currently has an 83% "fresh" rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Not great, but good enough to be certified fresh. The critical consensus is that the shift in tone between family comedy and brutal action doesn't always land, but the fight scenes and cast make this Netflix original worth pressing play next.

Several critics praised Yeoh's performance, especially as the family patriarch; Nicola Austin of Empire Magazine called Yeoh's performance a "tour de force," and Rhonda Racha Penrith of TheWrap said that Yeoh "steals the spotlight from the leading man, Brothers Sun Ronda Racha Penrith of "TheWrap" praised Yeoh for shining without taking the spotlight away from the lead, Brothers Sun.
