Samsung's AI-powered "Live Translate" is coming to Galaxy Buds - what we know

AI translation is one of the major features of the Galaxy AI suite, which debuted on the Galaxy S24. However, it appears that you will not be limited to translating foreign languages through your phone, as Galaxy AI's live translation will also be available on various Galaxy Buds.

Gizmochina discovered that the firmware update is currently rolling out to Samsung Galaxy Buds 2, Galaxy Buds 2 Pro, and Galaxy Buds FE. Once installed and paired with a Galaxy S24 device, Samsung's Live Translate feature will be available from Galaxy Buds.

The important thing to remember here is that the Live Translate feature is only available during a call. The idea behind this feature is that you speak in your native language and they speak in theirs. The Galaxy AI translates everything in between, speaks to each caller in their chosen language, and transcribes the call on the screen.

If you want to translate a conversation with a live person, Live Translation will be useless. You will need to use the Interpreter app on the Galaxy S24 instead.

This is not something Galaxy buds can do right now.

Currently, the only Samsung phones that offer Live Translation are the Galaxy S24 series. However, we do know that Galaxy AI features will be coming to Galaxy devices in 2023, including the Galaxy S23 series, Galaxy Z Fold 5, and Galaxy Z Flip 5, and Live Translate is rumored to be one of those features. Hopefully, Live Translate will also work on these devices via Galaxy Buds.

However, it is not known when older models will be able to access the Galaxy AI feature. So for now everything is firmly limited to the Galaxy S24, Galaxy S24 Plus, and Galaxy S24 Ultra.
