"Breathtaking" Episode 1 - Containment

Ahead of the UK's first national containment by Covid 19, acute care consultant Dr. Abby Henderson and NHS staff struggle to cope with the growing number of Covid 19 patients ravaging the wards. As tests run short, PPE becomes unavailable, and staff begin to get sick, Abby, registrar Ant, medical student Emma, and the team must respond quickly to stem the spread. During the initial lockdown, Abby leaves her family to protect them. Covid-19 patients, including a medical assistant (Divina) on Abby's team, continue to deteriorate, and a cancer patient (Sally) fears she may not survive. Abby is forced to discharge a patient from the care home without proper testing. Despite their best efforts, the team endures a heartbreaking and emotional goodbye. But the emotions and difficulties only push the staff to work harder to save the patient and keep the Covid-19 metastasis at bay, celebrating small victories in the process.

"Breathtaking" Episode 3 - Mitigation

Despite improved knowledge of the cure and the virus, the onrushing winter wave overwhelms Abby and her staff. The lives of Ellie, a patient with multiple sclerosis and Covid-19, hang in the balance when ventilators are in desperate short supply. The aftermath of Christmas hits Emma especially hard as she becomes a young doctor, struggling under enormous pressure. Cobid denialists are on the rise, staff morale plummets, patients are denied emergency surgery due to a lack of ITU beds, and Abby rises up in a final stand, leading to an emotional finale in which the team is given a chance to unite over the trauma.
