Samsung Galaxy Ring release date leaked - when will it appear?

The Samsung Galaxy Ring could be available as early as July, according to a Korean publication. Originally announced at Samsung's Galaxy Unpacked in January 2024, the Galaxy Ring will be Samsung's first ring-shaped wearable health monitor.

ETNews detailed the current interest in ring wearables and the focus on the health market in a recent article. Part of the announcement included a statement about a launch date for the Galaxy Ring at the Galaxy Unpacked event in late July. This could be the same event as the official launch of the Galaxy Z Flip 6 and Galaxy Z Fold 6.

ET News has also included some details about the Galaxy Ring's features as well as a possible release date. According to the report, the Galaxy Ring will have ECG capabilities, which will allow it to monitor the electrical activity of the heart and "track and measure information related to health and sleep."

ET News also states that there will be eight different types of rings, but does not clarify what that means. This could mean that there will be eight different sizes to fit most fingers. At this time, it is not clear how the fitting of the ring will work.

The main smart ring on the market today is the Oura Ring, which is undoubtedly the main competitor to the Galaxy Ring. Based on several patents recently obtained by Apple that may be related to the ring-like wearable's functionality, it has been suggested that Apple would also like to create its own version, but no official announcement about that device has been made so far.

A July release seems premature, but it is consistent with comments made by Samsung executives on Linkedin, as reported by Android Authority.

As it stands, we'll have to wait until we get a chance to try it out to know exactly what the Galaxy Ring can do and whether it's worth the time and money. If you can't wait that long for a ring tracker, it's worth considering Oura instead.

After wearing the Oura ring for a full year, we were impressed with its fitness tracking and sleep monitoring capabilities. That said, the battery life is not perfect, so if the charge lasts more than a few days, the Galaxy Ring may be a tough competitor.
