The original show may have faded away like its titular zombies before the series finale in 2022, but the "Walking Dead" franchise has risen from the grave with a spin-off. Meanwhile, Rick's wife Michonne (Danai Gurira), believing (correctly) that he is still alive, leaves the main group to go find the former legal officer. The new series already features an epic love story set in a post-apocalyptic wasteland.

A number of new cast members also appear, including Terry O'Quinn as Major General Bale and Craig Tate as Lieutenant Colonel Donald Okafor.
