Forget the Oura Ring - Galaxy ring could provide up to 9 days of battery life

Samsung's Galaxy Ring was first unveiled at MWC 2024 in Barcelona this week, but there is still much we don't know about this wearable. However, that is beginning to change with some key information coming directly from Samsung.

We saw the Galaxy Ring at MWC and learned that it will be available in gold, black, and silver. Meanwhile, Android Authority reports that Samsung Vice President Dr. Hon Pak told reporters that the Galaxy Ring will offer "long" battery life.

The vice president declined to mention the exact battery life of the Galaxy Ring, but said the company is trying to maximize battery life. Users can also turn the feature on and off to maximize battery life. In a separate report from Korean publication FNNews, Pak detailed that the battery life of the Galaxy Ring will be between five and nine days, which is likely to be obtained with the larger Galaxy Ring models, with the smaller ones likely to be in the lower range. [Galaxy Ring's main competitor is the Oura Ring, which promises 4-7 days of battery life for the wearable; our review of the Oura Ring Generation 3 found that it needs to be charged every 5 days. This is a fairly high standard for Samsung, since sleep tracking is part of the Ring's promised functionality.

In a post touting the Samsung Health platform, which promises to simplify health tracking for wearables like the Galaxy Ring, Puck highlighted the sleep tracking feature that comes at your fingertips. Pack wrote: "We've developed a variety of features that provide users with a deeper understanding of sleep quality and other aspects of their health while they sleep."

Other features available in Galaxy Ring include something called Vitality Score, which provides personalized health data based on factors such as activity, resting heart rate, heart rate utilization, and sleep. A booster card feature allows users to track their health goals. Galaxy Ring will also be able to track fertility with the help of a health app called Natural Cycles, according to Android Authority.

Other key features of the Galaxy Ring, including how much it will cost, are still unknown, and Samsung has not stated them at this time." Galaxy Ring will offer users a whole new way to simplify their daily wellness and empower them with greater insight and more ways to understand themselves day and night," Park said in his blog post, promising a launch later this year. "With Galaxy Ring, users can embrace an unparalleled experience at every step of their wellness journey, while simultaneously keeping pace with Samsung's broader vision for a more connected, integrated, and seamless digital wellness platform offered provided.

We expect to find out more as we get closer to that launch date, which may come around the same time Samsung releases the rumored Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6 foldables. If Samsung sticks to its usual schedule of Galaxy Unpacked events, it could come at some point this summer.
