'Hacks' Season 3 Release Date and Trailer Announced

'Hacks' Season 3 Release Date and Trailer Announced

The familiar comedy diva is still alive and well.

Deborah Vance and Eva Daniels will be back together for the third season of Max's original series Hacks. Max confirmed that the Emmy Award-winning comedy series will return to the small screen this May 2.

It's been two years since the comedy duo's antics graced our screens, but the wait is almost over as only a few months stand in the way of Deb and Eva returning to the streaming platform with a new adventure.

Season 3 will consist of nine episodes, with the first two episodes premiering on May 2. The rest of the season will be released two episodes each week until the season finale on May 30.

In addition to the first air date for Season 3, Max also released a new trailer.

The one-minute teaser, which begins at the end of the final episode of the second season, shows Deborah coming to life to Elton John's "I'm Still Standing" as befits the comedian's career.

Eva, however, is not doing so well. Deborah had previously fired her, obviously not a good choice, but Eva managed to sneak into the same hotel where the comedian was staying. It is unclear whether she is getting her job back or simply trying to do damage control for Deb, but she is trying to help by calling out the star's "more problematic material" that is "gaining traction."

"Which minority group is upset?" asked a distressed Deborah.

"What are they called?" Deborah exclaimed. Deborah shouts, and Eva tells her not to say "they."

"I thought they were all them now!" Deborah yells. Deborah yells. Ava struggles to get her mentor to understand what is going on.

"Hacks" is about Deborah (Smart), a standup comedian from Las Vegas. If she doesn't get fresh material aimed at young people, she could lose everything, including her residency at the Palmetto Casino.

She wasn't quite sure what to do until she met 25-year-old Ava (Hannah Einbinder). Ava is a comedy writer who has been trying and failing to find work ever since her appearance was canceled for sending an off-color tweet. Thanks to her indiscretions and her inability to fit into corporate life (and her arrogance beyond her years), Ava needed a job.

When Eva's agent found a new job as Deborah's head writer, it was the push the comedian needed to change her act. And that fateful job would eventually lead to a friendship and an unexpected benefit for both women. And eventually, a dark mentoring relationship is born.

But of course, the show has more laughs per minute than lessons learned at the end of each episode. Both the first and second seasons currently have Rotten Tomatoes scores of 100%, a testament to the show's long-lasting quality.

If you haven't started watching "Hacks" yet, now is the time. With new episodes on the horizon, it could provide a quick injection of much-needed comedy in these bleak times.
