Top 7 New Movies Available This Week on Netflix, Prime Video, Hulu and More (March 19 - March 25)

This week, the 2024 Academy Award-winning film will be among the hottest new releases on Netflix, Prime Video, Hulu, and other major streaming services.

"Anatomy of a Fall" finally makes its streaming service debut this week. The Academy Award-winning film has been available for purchase or rental for some time, but this Friday it became available to Hulu subscribers, making it the top streaming release of the week. I will definitely be pre-ordering and watching it myself.

In addition to the acclaimed French legal dramas, there are several other major productions. "Bob Marley One Love" is available for purchase or rental starting today, and Prime Video's "Road House" launches this Thursday, a remake of the 1989 cult classic that, despite its huge budget, has never been released theatrically, so a Prime Video subscription is required to watch it. video subscription is required to view it.

Some of these titles are newly released digitally and can be purchased at a premium price, but for others, all you need is the right streaming subscription. And while you're here, don't forget to check out the best of the new TV shows and new Netflix shows to watch from streamers this week.

Here are the top new movies streaming this week.

This Bob Marley biopic doesn't shy away from the music, but is as much about Marley's influence on the cultural movement as it is about the music. Kingsley Ben-Adil plays the reggae icon, and the film begins with the political unrest in Jamaica in 1976 that led to Marley's assassination attempt and concludes with his 1978 concert back in Jamaica.

Critical reviews of Bob Marley: One Love have been unfavorable, but audience reaction has been overwhelmingly positive. It may be a conventional biopic, but as long as Ben-Adil's performance is good, it is worth seeing.

"French Girl" star Zach Braff plays Gordon Kinski, a high school teacher in Brooklyn. His life is turned upside down when his girlfriend Sophie Tremblay (Evelyne Brochu) asks him to come with her to her hometown of Quebec City, where super chef Ruby Collins (Vanessa Hudgens) is about to enter the kitchen of a three Michelin star restaurant. Sophie and Ruby were once lovers.

It is not good that the movie does not have a Wikipedia page. It would be even worse if the same film received only a paltry 25% "fresh" rating from critics on Rotten Tomatoes. However, this romantic comedy probably seems like a passable romantic comedy based on the trailer. If nothing else, it has star power.

"Land of Bad" stars Liam Hemsworth as Sergeant JJ "Playboy" Kinney of the US Air Force Tactical Air Control Group. He is pulled into the U.S. Army Delta Force's Special Operations to support drone operations. His team appears to have been wiped out and he must reach the rescue point with the help of drone pilot Major Eddie "Reaper" Grimm (Russell Crowe). [Hemsworth and Crowe are understudying the roles played by Owen Wilson and Gene Hackman in the 2001 war movie. If you were a fan of that movie, or just like a good old-fashioned spy action thriller, Land of Bad is for you.

"Land of Bad" isn't the only action movie streaming this week. Expendables 4, the fourth installment in the "Expendables" series, comes nearly a decade after "Expendables 3." In this chapter of the action franchise, the elite mercenaries played by Jason Statham, Sylvester Stallone, Dolph Lundgren, and Randy Couture return. This time they are joined by Megan Fox, Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson, and Andy Garcia.

The plot, if you will, is that the heroes prevent the nefarious arms dealer Rahmat (Iko Uwais) from obtaining a nuclear detonator that could trigger World War III. But to be clear, the film should be considered nothing more than what action movie buffs want: explosions and gunfights.

Available on Starz March 20

I was lucky enough to see the film beforehand, but if not, I will when it opens this Thursday. In this remake of Patrick Swayze's beloved cult classic of the same name, "Roadhouse," Jake Gyllenhaal plays Dalton, Swayze's iconic bar bouncer. This time Dalton is a former UFC fighter who works at the Roadhouse in the Florida Keys, not Missouri. UFC fighter Conor McGregor also makes a cameo appearance as the big bad who bounces Dalton.

I still don't understand why this film has never been released in theaters. It feels like this movie was made for the big screen. But I have no complaints about watching it from the comfort of my couch.

Streaming on Prime Video starting March 21

Anatomy of a Fall, starring Sandra Huller as Sandra Voiter, is a poignant French legal drama (don't worry, it's in English) about the accidental death of her husband Samuel (Swann Arlow). The film is a film about the death of Samuel (Swann Arlow). As the investigation into Samuel's untimely death progresses, the blame suddenly shifts from gravity to Sandra, and what follows is a thriller that doesn't want to end.

The film was a big winner during awards season, winning the Palme d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival and Best Original Screenplay at this year's Academy Awards. Between the screenplay, the excellent work of director Justine Triet, and Hüller's stellar performance, the film is surely the top movie streaming this week.

Streaming on Hulu beginning March 22

Shirley Chisholm is a political icon: in 1972, she became the first black woman to run for president." Shirley" is Netflix's new biopic centered on the story of that campaign, with the incomparable Regina King as the titular character, Chisholm.

But King is not the only great actor to watch here. Terrence Howard as Arthur Hardwick, Jr. and the late, great actor Lance Reddick as Wesley MacDonald "Mac" Holder are also worth a look posthumously. Early reviews are generally favorable, so don't miss "Shirley" this week.

Available on Netflix on March 22
