Paramount Plus may not be one of the best streaming services, but that's not for lack of great movies. The streaming service has an extensive library, with more being added every month. And if you choose Paramount Plus along with Showtime, you can watch some really great movies, especially this month.

All seven of the following choices have a critics' score of 90% or higher on the review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes, and all are "Certified Fresh." So whichever of these films you choose, you'll get something worth seeing. They also offer a wide variety of choices, from family-friendly cartoons to Tom Hanks' masterful performance; if you subscribe to Showtime's Paramount Plus, you can even watch "The Godfather."

So without further ado, here are the seven best new movies coming to Paramount Plus in November 2023.

If you're like me, you can't stand holiday movies. But as a kid, I loved the Peanuts movies as a rare exception. It also led to a childhood habit of picking up the newspaper and reaching for the funny pages to read Peanuts every day. And for many, it all began with the film, A Boy Named Charlie Brown. This is the first Peanuts animated film and follows Charlie Brown, Linus, Lucy, Snoopy and their gang as Charlie Brown tries to win the National Spelling Bee. While this Peanuts movie is not geared toward the holiday season, it is a great family movie or a nostalgia trip this holiday season.

"Catch Me If You Can" is a crime drama (but with plenty of light humor) about the life of real-life con man Frank Abagnale Jr. Leo DiCaprio plays the young Abagnale, and Tom Hanks plays Carl Hanratty, the FBI agent tasked with his capture. Since then, there has been a lot of talk about the film's accuracy and the fact that the protagonist likes to lie, but let's throw all that out the window. Even if much of it is suspect, this is still a great movie. In fact, this may honestly be my favorite performance by DiCaprio and Hanks, especially Hanks. His performance as Hanratty is excellent and a fine example of him firing on all cylinders as an actor. Christopher Walken also gives a great performance as Frank Abagnale Sr. If you're looking for something to watch this month, "Catch Me If You Can" is definitely not to be missed.

"Roman Holiday" may be showing its age by now, but luckily, this romantic comedy is a timeless classic that still holds up. Audrey Hepburn plays Princess Anne, and Gregory Peck plays Joe Bradley, an American expatriate reporter who unexpectedly appears before her.

What follows is an excellent script and an engaging comedy full of laughs. Hepburn's performance is particularly excellent. Hepburn won Best Actress and legendary screenwriter Dalton Trumbo won Best Story, although at the time he was on the Hollywood blacklist and was not credited on the film until its DVD release in 2003.

About a year ago, I was on the tarmac at the airport waiting for my plane to be repaired and unable to leave. Thankfully, I was able to watch the in-flight entertainment, including "Private Ryan". It was a bit frustrating, admittedly, to have watched all 170 minutes of Steven Spielberg's World War II epic while stuck at the gate, but at least I got to see one of the best movies released in my lifetime while I was stuck, It was somewhat comforting.

"Saving Private Ryan," starring Tom Hanks as Captain John Miller, is loosely based on the story of the Niland brothers who served on the European front in World War II. In the film, three of the four Ryan brothers were killed in action during the Normandy invasion, and the fourth (Matt Damon) is missing in action. Captain Miller is then ordered to bring Private Ryan home at all costs.

The film is incredibly visually beautiful and deeply moving, as is Hanks' performance as Captain Miller. But perhaps the film's greatest feature is the truly amazing and profound ensemble cast that makes up the men tasked with bringing Private Ryan home. I can't promise that you won't get choked up watching "Saving Private Ryan," but I can promise that you'll be glad you did.

"If Your World Were Made Up" Jim Carrey plays Truman Burbank in this frankly brilliant comedy. Truman leads an ordinary life, but behind it lies a dark secret. Little does he know that his life has secretly become a TV show that everyone watches.

If my life was actually a reality show... The combination of the original story idea of "What if my life was actually a reality show?" and the hilarious Carey's well-balanced performance, in which she shows off her comedic talents to great effect, is a recipe for success from the very first moment. The film also delves into serious topics while maintaining the appearance of a comedy, such as the thirst for celebrity culture and the philosophical question of whether what we experience is really real. If you want to see a comedy that isn't your typical sophomoric, "The Truman Show" is a must-see.

"Reservoir Dogs" was Quentin Tarantino's first feature film and I still believe it to be his best work. Pulp Fiction catapulted Tarantino to stardom a few years later, but Reservoir Dogs is a perfect example of his filmmaking style, and there is not a wasted moment in its mere 99 minutes. It is also surprisingly entertaining. Parts of the film are indeed intense, violent, and even bloody, but by no means is "Reservoir Dogs" a comedy. But whatever the mood of the scenes, it is the cast that makes the film special. Harvey Keitel as Mr. White, Tim Roth as Mr. Orange, Michael Madsen as Mr. Blonde, and Chris Penn as "nice guy" Eddie Cabot appear alongside Buscemi's Mr. Pink. If you have Paramount Plus and Showtime, "Reservoir Dogs" is the first film you should see this month.

For some of you reading this, I won't have to explain twice that "The Godfather" is a great film. But for those of you who haven't seen it yet, let me explain why you need to see it. In fact, it is even worth upgrading to Paramount Plus on Showtime just to see this film and "Reservoir Dogs". The Godfather, in which Marlon Brando plays Don Vito Corleone, is a dramatic crime epic about the Corleone family's attempt to maintain control of a corner of organized crime and how the family transitions from Vito's leadership as the film progresses. Al Pacino as Michael Corleone, Vito's youngest son, James Caan as Sonny Corleone, the eldest son and heir, and Robert Duvall as Tom Hagen, the family's legal counsel, are also in the film, and their performances alone are reason enough to see "The Godfather". Add to that Francis Ford Coppola's brilliant direction, and you have one of the greatest films of all time.
