Samsung's Galaxy Buds 3 Pro will be available next year.

Since the first generation was released in 2021, Samsung's Galaxy Buds Pro series has been some of the best wireless earbuds you can buy.

However, following last year's second generation, Samsung did not update in 2023, offering only the mid-range Galaxy Buds FE. [SamMobile sources say Samsung plans to release the Galaxy Buds 3 Pro next year SamMobile sources say Samsung plans to release the Galaxy Buds 3 Pro next year. The site does not know the exact timing, but speculates that it will be released along with the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Z Flip 6. If Samsung follows its recent launch schedule for folding earbuds, the new flagship wireless earbuds will be available next August.

As for what features the Galaxy Buds 3 Pro will bring, this site is equally unclear. At the very least, we can expect improvements in sound quality, active noise cancellation (ANC), and battery life; with a two-year interval, this may be a bigger leap than we get with annual upgrades.

Other than that, it is also possible that Samsung plans to add some health features, mimicking Apple's rumored plans, although this is purely an area of speculation. This would not necessarily require additional hardware. Recent Google research has proven that heart rate can be measured via ANC microphones.

Whatever Samsung has in store, we can certainly be optimistic. While the original Samsung Galaxy Buds was a solid first step that earned four stars in our review, the second generation was a big improvement, offering a lighter, more comfortable design, greatly improved noise cancellation, and improved audio. Audio specialist Alex Brasetti praised this highly.

"After several attempts, Samsung finally has a serious competitor to the AirPods Pro, at least for Galaxy owners," he wrote in his review of the Galaxy Buds 2 Pro, which earned 4 1/2 stars.

"The sound alone makes the Galaxy Buds 2 Pro worth the investment, offering a high-quality audio experience and compelling 3D sound with accurate head tracking. Samsung's ANC is the best in its category, blocking out nearly 90% of ambient noise."

Battery life, however, proved disappointing, with only five hours of use with ANC turned on and a tendency to drop an hour or two when listening at high volume or activating special features. The earbuds are also undoubtedly expensive, with a price of $229 (up $30 from the first generation).

Hopefully, Samsung may be able to keep the price the same this time around; if SamMobile's sources are reliable, we will find out at some point next year.
