The year 2023 cannot end without the announcement of the last flagship model, as OnePlus confirmed on Monday (Nov. 20) that the much-anticipated OnePlus 12 is just a few weeks away.

The Chinese phone maker confirmed today (Nov. 20) on Weibo that it will unveil its next flagship phone in China on December 4. The launch, set for 6 a.m. EST, will coincide with OnePlus' 10th anniversary celebration, commemorating co-founders Pete Lau and Carl Pei's launch of OnePlus in December 2013.

OnePlus declined to say when exactly the OnePlus 12 will hit retail store shelves, but it appears to be playing along similarly to this year, when it launched the OnePlus 11 in January, a month earlier than the launch of rival Samsung's Galaxy S23.

By launching the OnePlus 12 in December, OnePlus would beat the Galaxy S24. Recent rumors suggest that Samsung's new flagship will make its first appearance at an event in San Jose, California on January 17.

OnePlus has built its brand by offering high-end devices at more affordable prices than many of its Android competitors. In recent years, it has sometimes taken advantage of earlier launch dates to offer its first flagship smartphone of the year, at least for a short period of time, ahead of its competitors.

Rumors have been swirling for months about the details of the OnePlus 12, and OnePlus itself has not been shy about sharing upcoming features. OnePlus' display is brighter than previous OnePlus flagship models, It is expected to be brighter, crisper, and more power efficient than previous OnePlus flagship models. OnePlus will likely announce both pricing and availability of the OnePlus 12 at an event next month, at least for the Chinese market. As for the global version, many reports suggest that pricing will start at $699.
